Dev Technology Group is looking for a Site Reliability Engineer to join our mission-focused team supporting critical applications for U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). In this role, you'll help keep essential systems running smoothly through proactive monitoring, incident response, troubleshooting, and coordination with technical support teams.

You'll be part of a collaborative team responsible for monitoring applications around the clock, identifying potential disruptions before they become larger issues, and helping maintain the reliability of systems that support important government operations. We're looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, can manage multiple priorities, and remains focused when responding to time-sensitive technical issues.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Monitor mission-critical applications and systems to identify performance issues, service disruptions, and potential outages before they impact operations.
  • Respond to system alerts, troubleshoot incidents, assess severity, and coordinate timely resolution with application, infrastructure, and network support teams.
  • Support the Passenger Services Program Directorate's (PSPD) suite of customer-facing applications, helping maintain system availability and performance.
  • Track, document, and update incidents, including business impact, root cause, corrective actions, and resolution status.
  • Monitor production changes, scheduled maintenance, and system outages, escalating unexpected issues and verifying application functionality following changes.
  • Work with technical teams and government stakeholders to communicate system health, performance trends, and emerging concerns.
  • Support established Service Level Agreements (SLAs) through timely incident response, escalation, and follow-up.
  • Analyze application dependencies and monitoring data to identify recurring issues and opportunities for improved system reliability.
  • Assist with root cause analysis (RCA), incident reviews, and recommendations to prevent future disruptions.
  • Prepare daily system health updates, executive reports, and monthly program review materials.
  • Help incorporate new applications into monitoring processes and recommend improvements to tools, procedures, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with project managers, technical leads, and government personnel to ensure consistent communication and reliable operational support.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience supporting IT systems, including troubleshooting, application maintenance, system monitoring, or network operations.
  • Strong understanding of ITIL principles and experience applying IT service management practices in an operational environment.
  • Hands-on experience with automated monitoring and performance management tools such as Splunk, AppDynamics, Auto Ops, or similar platforms.
  • Experience identifying, investigating, documenting, and escalating application or infrastructure incidents.
  • Ability to manage multiple systems and priorities while responding effectively to time-sensitive technical issues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical issues clearly to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with application, infrastructure, and operations teams.
  • Availability to work the designated overnight schedule onsite in Ashburn, VA, with flexibility to support additional shifts as needed.

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Experience supporting U.S. Government systems or mission-critical federal applications.
  • ITIL certification or willingness to obtain certification within the first year of employment.

Our estimated salary range for this position is $80,000 - $125,000. This presented salary range is not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Offered salary is based on experience, geographic location, and possibly contractual requirements as appropriate to the role. *Salary could fall outside of this range.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
