The posting

Do you enjoy developing new business and creating innovative freight solutions for customers? Are you experienced in part loads, groupage, or freight forwarding and ready to drive the next phase of growth? If so, you could be the newest addition to our team as a Commercial Business Development Manager – Part Loads.

Be part of the movement - and play your part.

About the role

The Commercial Business Development Manager – Part Loads is responsible for developing and growing DFDS's UK and Nordic Part Load and Groupage business, with a particular focus on UK export traffic. The role will identify and secure new customers, expand existing business relationships, and position DFDS as a preferred logistics partner for part load, groupage, and consolidated freight solutions. Extensive travel across the UK is an essential requirement of this role, with regular customer visits, networking, and on-site business development activities forming a key part of the position.

Working as part of the Commercial team, the role will drive profitable revenue growth through proactive business development, market analysis, customer engagement, and close collaboration with operational and account management teams. The position is critical to delivering DFDS's strategic ambition to grow its Part Load and Groupage offering and diversify freight volumes across the network.

You will be responsible for:

  • Developing and executing a sales strategy for Part Load and Groupage services
  • Identifying and securing new business opportunities across the UK market
  • Promoting consolidation and groupage solutions to customers
  • Building strong relationships with key decision-makers and procurement teams
  • Preparing proposals, quotations, and pricing recommendations
  • Managing forecasts, pipeline activity, and CRM reporting
  • Working collaboratively with operations and account management teams to maximise customer value

About you

You'll have experience in business development, sales, freight forwarding, logistics, or transport services and a strong understanding of Part Load, Groupage, or consolidated freight solutions. You'll be commercially focused with excellent relationship‑building and negotiation skills, able to work independently while collaborating across multiple departments. Knowledge of Nordic freight markets, customs procedures, or multimodal logistics would be highly beneficial. A full UK driving licence is essential, as regular travel throughout the UK forms a key part of the role.

We think the strongest teams are built on diversity and inclusivity. Contrasting opinions, varied skills and strong characters bring out the best in us all. And we cannot wait for you to join.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
