A technology team is seeking an Automation QA Engineer to support a geospatial digital product portfolio. This role will help strengthen the quality, reliability, and usability of digital products that support location-based analysis and stakeholder engagement.

The position combines hands-on test automation with practical test design, defect investigation, and close collaboration with product and engineering teams. The Automation QA Engineer will develop and maintain automated checks across web interfaces, APIs, and data layers; integrate testing into delivery pipelines; and help communicate product quality and release readiness.

Ideal candidates will have hands-on experience writing maintainable code and developing automated tests, with a focus on scalable and reliable QA practices.

This is your job:

Responsibilities

  • Test strategy and coverage. Turn product requirements and user stories into risk-based test scenarios and clear acceptance checks. Choose appropriate API, UI, integration, and data-layer tests; include positive, negative, boundary, and end-to-end cases. Complement automation with targeted exploratory testing and identify gaps before release.
  • Automation development. Build and maintain robust automated tests using the team's .NET/C# framework and established patterns. Develop reusable API clients, page objects, fixtures, test data, and assertions; avoid duplicated or brittle tests. Extend shared capabilities to portfolio products while keeping application-specific tests modular.
  • Geospatial testing. Validate relevant map and spatial-data workflows, including location search, layers and overlays, filters, spatial queries, map interactions, and data presentation. Where supported by the product, test coordinate-reference-system handling, geometry and boundary conditions, missing or overlapping features, and consistency between displayed results, APIs, and source or reference data. Design representative test data for different geographic contexts and scales.
  • Integration and data verification. Automate critical workflows that span the UI, APIs, and database where applicable. Use SQL to verify transformations and persisted results; test invalid inputs, permissions, error handling, and integration failure scenarios. Apply sound data-management practices to keep tests repeatable and safe across environments.
  • CI/CD and reliability. Configure and maintain automated execution in Azure DevOps pipelines, including scheduled and on-demand regression runs. Diagnose failures, distinguish application defects from test or environment issues, reduce flaky tests, and make results easy to interpret through logs, screenshots, and reporting.
  • Defect management and collaboration. Record actionable defects with reproducible steps, expected and actual results, and supporting evidence. Link user stories, test cases, runs, and defects in Azure DevOps. Participate in Agile planning, refinement, reviews, and retrospectives; communicate risks and progress to product owners and developers, and maintain test and framework documentation.

Expected deliverables

  • A working test setup and successful execution of agreed existing tests locally and in the designated pipeline.
  • Automated API, UI, integration, and data-verification tests for prioritized geospatial product workflows, reviewed and merged into the shared codebase.
  • A maintainable regression suite with reliable scheduled execution, clear results, and prompt triage of failed runs.
  • Azure DevOps test cases and defect records linked to relevant requirements, with Allure and pipeline reporting where used by the team.
  • Documented framework improvements, reusable test utilities, and updated instructions for running, maintaining, and troubleshooting tests.
  • At the start of the engagement, the priority workflows, target environments, baseline coverage, and measurable acceptance criteria for these deliverables will be agreed upon with the team.

Your qualifications:

Required qualifications

  • Practical experience designing and coding automated tests for web applications and REST APIs, including multistep and end-to-end scenarios.
  • Strong proficiency in an object-oriented programming language, with the ability to produce readable, maintainable, version-controlled test code.
  • Ability to work with SQL and validate application behaviour against underlying data.
  • Experience with Git, code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, defect tracking, and Agile software delivery.
  • Sound understanding of test design, debugging, test-data management, and the trade-offs between automated and exploratory testing.
  • Clear written and spoken English and an ability to collaborate effectively with a distributed delivery team.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with C#/.NET, NUnit, RestSharp, Playwright for .NET, PostgreSQL, Dapper, Azure DevOps, or Allure.
  • Experience testing geospatial or GIS products, interactive maps, spatial APIs or datasets, and coordinate or geometry edge cases.
  • Familiarity with accessibility, API contract, performance, or security-focused testing; Gherkin; structured logging; or mentoring engineers on test automation.
  • Ability to assess and use AI-assisted development or testing tools responsibly, subject to applicable team and organizational requirements

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
