This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company’s locations: Dune Deck Beach Club in Westhampton Beach, NY.

Dune Deck Beach Club is seeking a seasonal Facilities Maintenance Assistant to join the Facilities Department. This position is available from April 1- October 31, 2027. This position is H2B eligible.

The Facilities Maintenance Assistant provides day-to-day support to the Facilities team by handling simple, routine tasks that keep the club’s buildings, deck, and common areas clean, safe, and ready for members and guests. Typical duties include replacing light bulbs, bringing umbrellas in and out from the deck, and unclogging toilets. In this role, you will be part of creating the Discovery Land Company experience for our members and fellow employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Replace burned-out light bulbs in buildings, restrooms, walkways, and outdoor areas, using ladders and step stools safely.
  • Bring umbrellas in and out from the deck each day, including setting them up for member use, closing and securing them at the end of the day, and storing them promptly during high winds or inclement weather.
  • Unclog toilets and clear minor drain blockages in restrooms and common areas using a plunger or hand auger, then clean and sanitize the area afterward.
  • Report larger or recurring plumbing, electrical, or equipment problems to the Facilities Engineer or Facilities management rather than attempting complex repairs.
  • Assist with other simple, routine upkeep tasks, such as tightening loose hardware, replacing batteries and air filters, and restocking basic maintenance supplies, as directed.
  • Set up, move, and rearrange deck and outdoor furniture and equipment for member use and special events as directed.
  • Perform general cleaning of work areas, tools, and equipment, and keep storage and maintenance areas organized.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and work orders, prioritizing tasks based on urgency and impact on members, guests, and operations.
  • Complete assigned checklists and record completed tasks in the work order system as directed.
  • Identify and report safety concerns, hazardous conditions, damaged items, and maintenance needs, and use personal protective equipment and safe work practices at all times.
  • Adhere to safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Assist the Facilities Engineer and other Facilities team members as directed.
  • Communicate information related to tasks that will impact service to other departments.
  • Communicate courteously and effectively with Department Heads, co-workers, members, and guests.
  • Remain knowledgeable of all property emergency, safety, and disaster plans and procedures, and respond promptly to emergencies.
  • Complete all other maintenance support tasks and duties as directed by Facilities and Operations management.

Qualifications

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Six (6) months previous experience in maintenance or custodial; experience at a high-volume environment at a restaurant, resort or private club preferred.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License.
  • Ability to safely use basic hand tools and equipment, such as ladders, plungers, and screwdrivers, after on-the-job training.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions and work orders.
  • Basic computer skills for work order tracking systems, email, and mobile devices.

Additional Requirements

  • Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to deliver service to members, guests, and team members.
  • Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (60) pounds.

Benefits

  • $23.16 - $29.26 per hour
  • Employee Meals, Referral Incentives, and Recognition Programs
  • Optional furnished housing is available to a worker who lives outside of a commutable distance through a separate company at a weekly housing rate of $125 (including Basic Utilities). Private rooms available at a weekly housing rate of $250. Private rooms options are limited and subject to availability. If the worker chooses to live in optional housing, payment is made via electronic payment, no cash, directly to the landlord each month.
  • Professional development and Global Mobility Opportunities for future H-2B visa sponsorship for those eligible.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
