Senior Business Analyst

About the Role & Team

Disney’s Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) team oversees the Hulu and Disney+ streaming businesses within the Disney Entertainment segment, helping bring The Walt Disney Company’s best-in-class storytelling to fans and families everywhere.

At Disney DTC, data is central to measuring every aspect of the business and critical to its continued operations and growth. Within the Business Operations function, the Executive Reporting & Business Insights team is a highly visible group that works closely with DTC executives and stakeholders across the organization to support the consistent collection, use, and presentation of business-critical KPIs and data points.

The team focuses on communicating and improving business results through data analysis, compelling presentation materials, and fast-paced execution, with an emphasis on delivering actionable business insights and recommendations.

We are seeking a Senior Business Analyst to join our Business Insights team. This position requires exceptional attention to detail, a high level of accountability, strong collaboration skills, hands-on experience working with complex datasets, and a talent for storytelling with data.

What You Will Do

As a Senior Business Analyst, you will conduct data analysis, extract meaningful insights, and create high-level presentations for executive audiences. You will formulate key business questions, determine the most effective methods for addressing them, and present insights in a way that enables senior executives to make informed decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Business Performance Reporting, Visualization, and Regression Management: Serve as a primary partner to cross-functional stakeholders by identifying when metrics are ahead of or behind expectations. Conduct in-depth analysis to uncover meaningful, actionable insights that can improve business performance or help the organization build upon its successes.
  • Deep-Dive Analysis: Analyze user behavioral data to identify patterns, uncover opportunities, and build a shared understanding of how users interact with the platform and its content.
  • Forecasting and Opportunity Sizing: Use forecasting and opportunity-sizing methodologies to establish goals and evaluate potential business opportunities. Help stakeholders assess trade-offs among different approaches and develop targets that drive business performance.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Partner closely with business stakeholders to identify and unlock opportunities. Collaborate with other data teams to improve platform capabilities related to data modeling, testing platforms, data visualization, and data architecture.
  • Executive Communication: Develop impactful and compelling presentation materials, including decks, notes, written summaries, and supporting materials, that clearly communicate key findings and help influence important operational decisions.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • 5+ years of analytical experience.
  • 2+ years of experience working cross-functionally with stakeholders in a matrixed organization.
  • Strong familiarity with data platforms and applications such as Databricks, Jupyter, Snowflake, Redshift, and Airflow.
  • Familiarity with data exploration and visualization tools such as Tableau, Looker, and Chartio.
  • Strong experience defining data requirements, data strategies, and data rules, including standardization, cleansing, and validation.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to visualize and summarize data insights into clear, compelling, and actionable business narratives, including written memos and executive presentations.
  • Strong analytical and technical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, quickly develop potential solutions, document changes, and communicate those changes across the organization.
  • Ability to evaluate risks and provide timely recommendations and solutions.
  • Ability to think strategically and analyze and interpret market and consumer information.
  • Understanding of statistical concepts, including hypothesis testing and regression analysis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in the streaming media industry or knowledge of data related to Video on Demand (VOD) and subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) services.
  • Experience compiling and presenting detailed analyses to executive audiences.
  • Project management experience.

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field, such as Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, is desired.

Additional Information

  • This role is based in the New York City office and requires in-office work Monday through Thursday, with flexibility to work from home on Fridays.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
