Purpose

The Learning & Organizational Development Specialist builds workforce capability for Advanced Manufacturing by translating business, performance, and compliance needs into scalable learning solutions. The role combines organizational development consulting, instructional design, learning architecture, and LMS data analysis to improve employee proficiency, operational readiness, and the effectiveness of learning investments.

The Role

  • Partner with Advanced Manufacturing leaders, subject-matter experts, People partners, and employees to diagnose performance and capability needs; distinguish learning needs from process, role, tooling, or organizational issues; and recommend practical interventions.
  • Design role-based learning architectures, curricula, pathways, and qualification plans that connect job competencies, prerequisite knowledge, on-the-job practice, assessments, and reinforcement to measurable business outcomes.
  • Lead end-to-end instructional design for complex technical and professional learning using adult-learning principles and appropriate methodologies; create design documents, storyboards, facilitator guides, learner materials, assessments, and digital learning experiences.
  • Convert complex manufacturing concepts and procedures into accurate, accessible learning experiences in close partnership with technical experts while maintaining alignment with quality, safety, and document-control requirements.
  • Establish measurement plans and success criteria for assigned initiatives. Analyze LMS and related workforce data sets to identify participation, completion, proficiency, time-to-competency, recertification, and adoption trends; communicate findings and recommendations through clear reports or dashboards.
  • Maintain data quality for assigned LMS programs, including learning objects, curricula, audiences, assignments, completion rules, equivalencies, assessment data, and reporting logic; investigate discrepancies and coordinate sustainable corrections.
  • Lead small projects and pilots from discovery through launch and evaluation, managing scope, milestones, risks, stakeholder decisions, communications, and continuous-improvement actions.
  • Facilitate workshops, train-the-trainer sessions, working meetings, and learning experiences for employees and leaders; coach subject-matter experts on effective instructional practices.
  • Develop and refine reusable standards, templates, playbooks, and operating procedures that improve the quality, consistency, accessibility, and scalability of learning solutions.
  • Evaluate learning technologies, content, and vendor solutions; make recommendations based on user needs, technical fit, data requirements, maintainability, and value.
  • Manage multiple concurrent assignments independently, exercise judgment in selecting methods and priorities, and escalate material risks or decisions at the appropriate time.
  • Perform other related duties and support priority organizational development initiatives as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  • Ability to lawfully access information and technology that is subject to US export controls
  • Bachelor's degree in instructional design, learning sciences, organizational development, human resources, education, business, analytics, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Five or more years of progressive experience in learning and development, organizational development, instructional design, learning experience design, or a related discipline, including independent ownership of complex learning projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct needs analysis, define performance outcomes, design curricula or learning pathways, develop assessments, and evaluate learning effectiveness.
  • Working knowledge of adult-learning theory, instructional-design models, facilitation practices, accessibility principles, and blended learning approaches.
  • Experience administering learning programs and working with LMS data, including assignments, completions, assessments, curricula, audience rules, data validation, and recurring or ad hoc reporting.
  • Ability to work with structured data sets using advanced spreadsheet functions and data-cleaning, reconciliation, analysis, and visualization techniques; ability to translate findings into decisions and actions for nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with common instructional-authoring, collaboration, presentation, and project-management tools.
  • Strong consulting, project management, written communication, facilitation, and stakeholder-management skills; able to influence without formal authority and work effectively with technical and operational partners.
  • Ability to manage ambiguity, balance technical, procedural, and business constraints, and make independent recommendations on matters affecting assigned programs.
  • Ability to handle confidential employee and business information with sound judgment and discretion.
  • Ability to work onsite in an office and manufacturing environment; occasionally move between work areas, remain stationary for extended periods, and lift or carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting advanced manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, engineering, production, quality, supply chain, or another technical operating environment.
  • Experience designing technical training, structured on-the-job training, qualification or certification programs, competency models, or role-based academies.
  • Experience with SCORM, xAPI, learning record stores, LMS integrations, or learning-content governance.
  • Experience with SQL, Power BI, Tableau, or comparable query and visualization tools.
  • Knowledge of organizational development, change management, performance consulting, or talent practices beyond course design.
  • Relevant certification such as CPTD, APTD, instructional-design, facilitation, project-management, change-management, or analytics certification.

Work Environment

  • Work is performed primarily onsite in a professional office and active manufacturing environment. Exposure may include moderate noise, moving equipment, production activity, and areas requiring personal protective equipment and compliance with site safety rules.
  • Regular collaboration with manufacturing leaders, employees, technical subject-matter experts, People partners, and vendors is required. Occasional travel between company locations and schedule flexibility to observe or support multiple manufacturing shifts may be required.
  • The employee routinely uses a computer and standard office equipment and must be able to communicate and exchange information effectively in person and through digital channels.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
