DLK Group is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Systems Developer to support the development, enhancement, and maintenance of critical healthcare business applications for our client, based in East London, Eastern Cape. We are looking for a proactive, solutions-driven professional with strong technical expertise, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the ability to collaborate effectively with business stakeholders and IT teams. The ideal candidate will also provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers while contributing to the digital transformation and operational efficiency of healthcare services. Requirements Technical Requirements LAMP Stack Development: Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP HTML: Hypertext Markup Language PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor SQL: Structured Query Language, including complex queries Database Design and Management Advanced JavaScript Programming XML (Extensible Markup Language) Object-Oriented Development Data Analysis using tools such as Microsoft Power BI Development of customised web-based reports and dashboards Azure Virtual Server Design and Administration Advanced Linux server administration HL7 Coding and Systems Integration via Mirth/NextGen Sound knowledge of the South African Health Normative Standard Framework and underlying profiles and technologies Use of Microsoft DevOps environment Functional Requirements Knowledge of the development of E-Health applications Analysis and problem-solving skills Ability to interpret business requirements and translate them into systems design Development of applications from technical specifications Code reviews and testing (unit, automated, regression) Documentation and user training Collaboration with clinical staff, system administrators, and other departments Mentoring junior developers Minimum Qualification and Experience Required Degree/National Diploma in Computer Science/Information Technology 10 years of working experience in information systems design and development Minimum Experience Years System analysis and system design experience: 10 years Strong object-oriented development: 10 years Experience in application configuration, maintenance, and support: 10 years Systems integrations: 5 years Strong understanding of front-end technologies (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, XML, PHP): 10 years Experience with responsive web design and accessibility standards: 10 years Knowledge of backend technologies (APIs, database management using SQL databases): 10 years Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, Amazon): 5 years Expertise in handling and processing large datasets: 10 years Experience with data integration tools and technologies (ETL, data warehousing, data analytics frameworks): 10 years Strong understanding of security best practices (data encryption, secure coding, authentication, authorisation, compliance with ICT regulations): 10 years Strong debugging skills and familiarity with debugging tools: 10 years Understanding of healthcare data standards (HL7, FHIR): 3 years Knowledge of Electronic Health Records (EHR), Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems and/or electronic health patient-centric systems: 3 years Awareness of healthcare workflows and processes (patient management, billing, insurance processing): 3 years Familiarity with integrating health applications with other systems (HL7 interfaces, APIs for clinical systems): 3 years Experience with interoperability protocols (HL7, DICOM, FHIR): 3 years Strong analytical skills to understand complex requirements and design efficient solutions: 10 years Ability to work effectively in a team, mentor junior developers, and collaborate with other departments: 10years Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical team members and vice versa: 10 years Strong Linux server setup, configuration, and management: 5 years Providing training to end users: 10 years Personal Attributes Demonstrates passion and commitment to excellence Commitment to high performance Delivery-focused and goal-driven Interest and passion for ICT Willingness to go the extra mile Attention to detail Sets high standards and gets work done correctly the first time Leadership Understands their impact on others and the organisation’s culture Plays a leading and supporting role in implementing initiatives at a team level Builds effective relationships with line management, team members, and customers Engages and cooperates with line management and team members to achieve operating and team goals
