About the Role: The Electro-Mechanical Technician is responsible for assembling, wiring, testing, troubleshooting, and validating electrical and electro-mechanical systems used in manufacturing and automation projects. This role involves selecting and preparing electrical wiring, assembling wire harnesses, performing instrument startup and calibration, and completing functional and safety testing to ensure products meet quality and performance requirements. The Electro-Mechanical Technician will work closely with engineering and project teams and will receive training, mentorship, and support in project execution and customer interactions. What You Will Do:
Assemble, install, wire, and test electrical and electro-mechanical components using hand and power tools and established assembly techniques. Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams, bills of materials (BOMs), cut sheets, work instructions, and P&IDs. Select, measure, cut, terminate, and prepare electrical wiring and wire harnesses according to project specifications. Perform functional, electrical, and safety testing to verify proper operation and product quality. Support instrument startup, calibration, checkout, and troubleshooting activities. Inspect and validate wire harness assemblies for accuracy, quality, and compliance with specifications. Tear down, modify, and rework donor harnesses and other electrical assemblies as required. Track and maintain inventory of project parts, materials, and supplies. Identify and communicate quality issues, wiring discrepancies, and potential design or assembly concerns. Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and other cross-functional project team members to support successful project execution. Maintain an organized, safe, and clean work environment and participate in daily shop organization and housekeeping activities. Follow all applicable safety procedures, quality standards, work instructions, and company policies. Apply electrical and electro-mechanical knowledge to hands-on assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and equipment support. Define problems, gather relevant information, evaluate options, and determine practical solutions. Consistently follow specifications and work instructions while identifying and addressing quality concerns. Use sound judgment and initiative within established guidelines, procedures, and safety requirements. Clearly communicate technical information, project status, and potential issues to team members and project stakeholders. Work effectively with engineering, manufacturing, and other cross-functional teams. Have strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
What You Need To Be Successful:
Associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electro-Mechanical Technology, or a related field; equivalent technical experience may be considered. 5+ years of industrial electrical experience, preferably in a manufacturing, automation, or assembly environment. Experience working with electrical wiring, wire harnesses, electrical components, and electro-mechanical systems. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation. Proficiency using hand and power tools and common electrical testing equipment. Strong understanding of electrical and quality control practices. Ability to troubleshoot problems, identify root causes, and determine appropriate solutions. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
Bonus Points If You Have:
Engineering Technology or related technical certification. ASE certification(s). Experience working with automated assembly equipment or manufacturing systems. Experience with automotive electrical or high-voltage battery systems. Experience with instrument startup, calibration, commissioning, or equipment troubleshooting. Experience working with P&IDs and instrumentation systems. Experience modifying or reworking electrical harnesses and assemblies.
