What you'll do This intern will be a member of the Platform Directory team within B21, helping tenant administrators quickly understand and repair common directory issues (conflicting identities, disabled users in critical groups, stale memberships, misconfigured SCIM mappings, and more). Working closely with UX and partner engineering teams, the intern will build a lightweight diagnostics panel that surfaces actionable checks and suggested fixes, shifting routine debugging from engineering/support to admin self-service and improving customer satisfaction. This is an internship role for 7 months of duration. This position is an individual contributor role reporting to the Sr. Manager, Engineering. Responsibility Contribute to the design and implementation of a self-service diagnostics panel for org/tenant admins, focusing on clear checks, remediation suggestions, and a safe, auditable experience Implement well-scoped directory features with strong attention to quality, including unit, integration, and functional tests alongside feature development Use existing metrics, logs, and telemetry to understand system behavior; with guidance from senior engineers, diagnose directory issues across distributed services such as Directory Service, SCIM integrations, and admin UX flows Improve observability for directory health signals (e.g., drift between IdP and Docusign, conflicting identities, stale groups) by enhancing metrics, logging, and dashboards Interpret product requirements and contribute to technical design docs for diagnostics workflows and directory-related features, applying solid knowledge of algorithms, data structures, APIs, and resource management Collaborate closely with Directory, UX, and support partners to ensure diagnostics flows are usable, reliable, and aligned with customer needs Communicate progress, blockers, and design decisions clearly in both written and verbal form; participate in sprint rituals, demos, and design reviews, and know when to ask for help or escalate issues appropriately Job Designation Hybrid: Employee divides their time between in-office and remote work. Access to an office location is required. (Frequency: Minimum 2 days per week; may vary by team but will be weekly in-office expectation) Positions at Docusign are assigned a job designation of either In Office, Hybrid or Remote and are specific to the role/job. What you bring Basic Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program (e.g., Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or related field), with an expected graduation date within the standard Docusign intern program window Graduating December 2027, May/June 2028 Experience in at least one general-purpose programming language such as Python, Java, C#, or Go Experience in at least one front-end or web technology such as JavaScript, TypeScript, or React Experience with core computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and networking Preferred Pursuing a B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field Interest in identity, directory systems, and admin/operational tooling Exposure to distributed systems concepts, RESTful APIs, or microservices-based architectures Familiarity with telemetry/observability tools (metrics, logs, dashboards) and a data-driven approach to debugging Experience with collaborative software development practices (code reviews, version control, documentation) Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to learn new technologies quickly Wage Transparency Pay for this position is based on a number of factors including geographic location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
