ABOUT MONMOUTHFLOW
MonmouthFlow is an independent, founder-led yoga and wellness studio in the heart of Shrewsbury. Our classes blend mindful movement, breathwork and strength, from heated Vinyasa and power sculpt to restorative and gentle flow. Every class is built to leave people feeling grounded, strong and connected to a real community.
POSITION SUMMARY
This is a hands-on, in-studio sales and service role. The Studio Manager is the face of MonmouthFlow for every guest who walks in, calls, or books during their shift, and is accountable for turning first-time visitors into recurring members.
This is not a General Manager position. The Studio Manager does not supervise staff, set budgets, or own marketing strategy. They execute the studio's sales process, member experience standards and daily operating procedures, and escalate anything outside those standards to the Owner. Strong performers will have the opportunity to take on more as the studio grows.
DUTIES
Sales and Conversion
- Greet and personally welcome every first-time guest, give a studio tour, and explain intro offers and membership options before and after class.
- Present memberships and class packs to every intro and drop-in guest, and close sales in person, by phone, and by email.
- Follow up with first-timers and intro-offer holders within 48 hours of their visit, and again before their intro offer expires, using the studio's follow-up scripts and Arketa.
- Work assigned lead lists (expiring intros, lapsed members, drop-in-only guests) during slower shift hours.
- Process sales of memberships, class packs, private sessions and retail accurately in Arketa.
- Log every lead contact and outcome in Arketa so follow-up is never duplicated or dropped.
Member Experience and Retention
- Check in members, manage waitlists and late arrivals, and keep classes starting on time.
- Learn regular members by name and notice when someone stops coming; flag at-risk members for outreach.
- Answer member questions about schedules, billing, freezes and policies using approved policy language.
- Escalate cancellation requests, billing disputes, refunds, and any member conduct toward staff or instructors to the Owner the same day, in writing.
- Collect member feedback and testimonials, and share class-experience issues with the Owner.
Studio Operations
- Serve as keyholder: open and close the studio using the opening and closing checklists, including lights, heat, music and security.
- Keep the lobby, studio room, restrooms and props clean, stocked and set up for each class; complete cleaning logs.
- Answer the studio phone, email and messages during shifts, and handle escalations from the front-desk assistant bot.
- Support instructors before and after class, including sub coverage communication when the Owner directs.
- Maintain retail displays, receive inventory, and report low stock.
- Complete a short end-of-shift report: sales closed, leads contacted, issues and follow-ups.
Community and Events
- Support in-studio events, workshops and community activations, including set-up, check-in and selling at the event.
- Represent MonmouthFlow at occasional local events and partner businesses in Monmouth County.
- Capture simple photo and video content on shift for the marketing team when requested.
REQUIREMENTS
- 2+ years in sales, front-desk, hospitality or member-services roles; boutique fitness or wellness studio experience strongly preferred.
- A track record of closing sales and following up on leads against weekly and monthly goals.
- Confident, warm communicator in person, by phone and in writing, with solid grammar and spelling.
- Comfortable with studio software (Arketa or similar such as Mindbody), Google Workspace, and a POS system; quick to learn new tools.
- Organized, punctual and reliable, with strong attention to detail in sales entry and cash handling.
- Stays calm and professional with upset guests and knows when to escalate.
- Trustworthy with confidential member and business information.
- Available for early morning, evening and weekend shifts, including holiday-season and event peaks.
- Reliable transportation for occasional local events in Monmouth County.
Nice to have: a personal yoga practice or 200-hour yoga teacher certification, CPR/First Aid certification, and social media or content-capture experience.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Base pay: $18.00–$22.00 per hour, paid bi-weekly, based on experience. This is a W-2 position with all required withholdings.
Monthly performance bonus: earned on new memberships sold and on studio membership goals. Goals and bonus amounts are published monthly and provided in writing with the offer.
Benefits:
- Free MonmouthFlow membership for you plus one.
- 40% off MonmouthFlow-branded apparel and 25% off non-branded apparel sold in the studio.
- Paid sick leave under the New Jersey Earned Sick Leave Law.
- Paid holidays: Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
- Eligibility for the company profit-sharing plan after one year of service, if offered.
MonmouthFlow does not offer a health plan at this time. Benefits are governed by the Employee Handbook and may change.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Shifts may run up to 8 hours and include early mornings, evenings and weekends. The role requires standing or walking for up to four hours at a time, and bending, kneeling and reaching to set up and clean props and equipment. Must be able to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds and work comfortably in a heated studio environment. Reasonable accommodations will be made for qualified individuals with disabilities.
CULTURE AND VALUES
- Leave your ego at the door.
- Build real relationships with new guests and existing members.
- Treat every teammate and instructor with respect, in person and in writing.
- Bring energy and positivity to every shift.
- Take ownership and get things done with little direction.
- Raise problems early and directly with the Owner, but seek to define the solutions proactively.
