Who we are:
The Domain Companies is a national real estate development and investment firm focused on making a positive and lasting social, economic, and physical impact on the communities in which we build. Domain is responsible for a diverse range of innovative projects including affordable, mixed-income and luxury apartments, condominiums, hospitality, retail, entertainment venues, and creative workspace.

Our team stays at the forefront of our industry by striving for excellence and innovation in everything we do. The result is a dynamic environment that encourages creativity and offers the opportunity for growth and advancement.
Vorea, a construction management company, and an affiliate of The Domain Companies, is slated for significant growth in 2027. As Vorea builds its team, this role will play a central part in attracting and onboarding the people who will power that growth.
What we’re looking for:
We are looking for a People & Culture Generalist to help build the team that will power Vorea’s next stage of growth. This role leads full-cycle recruitment for Vorea, from project sites to the office, while serving as a People & Culture generalist across Domain’s business lines, with responsibilities spanning onboarding, HRIS and reporting, payroll and benefits backup, and culture development.
Our People & Culture team works side by side with executive leaders and all departments within the organization. At Domain, we’re all one team. That means we show up for each other, act with empathy, and bring our authentic selves to work every day. We work hard, we learn from our experience, and get better every day.
What you’ll be doing:
Recruitment for Vorea (primary focus)
- Own full-cycle recruitment for Vorea: partner with leaders to plan 2027 hiring needs, write and post job descriptions, and source, screen, interview and close candidates for field, project management and office roles.
- Build talent pipelines for hard-to-fill construction roles through job boards, LinkedIn, industry associations, trade schools and our Employee Referral Program.
- Maintain the open roles tracker across all business lines and report on pipeline, time to fill and hiring progress.
- Prepare offers using our offer letter templates and coordinate background checks and drug screening in line with Vorea’s requirements.
- Deliver a candidate experience that reflects our core values, and represent Domain and Vorea at career fairs and community events.
- Support recruitment for Domain’s other business lines as needed.
Onboarding
- Coordinate each new hire’s journey from pre-boarding through Day 90: first-day details, Form I-9, Proliant setup, orientation, and 30-, 60- and 90-day check-ins.
- Facilitate New Hire Orientation for new team members across all business lines.
- Coordinate new hire announcements, welcome materials and the Quarterly New Hire Lunch with our COO.
Generalist support
- Serve as a day-to-day People & Culture partner for leaders and team members across Domain’s business lines, including Vorea: answer questions, interpret policies and support employee relations matters.
- Help integrate Vorea into the Domain culture so every team member feels part of one company.
- Maintain accurate employee records in Proliant and build reports on headcount, turnover and hiring.
- Serve as backup for payroll, timekeeping and benefits administration.
- Support engagement and culture programs, including company events, Community Days, Core Value Awards and service awards, and help build an inclusive culture where Vorea is fully part of Domain.
- Advance diversity, equity and inclusion through inclusive hiring practices and partnerships with local organizations.
- Support follow-up on our annual engagement survey.
Across the role
- Handle confidential information with the highest level of professionalism.
- Manage multiple time-sensitive projects with daily, weekly and monthly goals and deadlines.
- Maintain working knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in recruiting, human resources and employment law.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills, Experience, and Qualifications Required:
- 3+ years of HR experience, including at least 2 years of full-cycle recruiting.
- Experience recruiting for construction, real estate, skilled trades or field-based roles strongly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, HR or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Hands-on HRIS experience (Proliant a plus) and strong Excel skills for reporting.
- Working knowledge of payroll and benefits administration.
- Knowledge of employment law; multi-state experience (New York, Louisiana, Utah) preferred.
- Experienced in supporting teams in multiple geographic regions and comfortable spending time on job sites.
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and prioritization skills, with a proactive and strategic mindset.
- Ability to work well both independently and collaboratively.
- National HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Physical Demands:
- This position involves regular walking, standing, sitting for extended periods of time, hearing, and talking.
- May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
- Periodic visits to active construction sites, which require following site safety rules and wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).
- May involve close vision, color vision, depth perception, focus adjustment, and viewing a computer monitor for extended periods of time.
- Involves manual dexterity for using keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.
- May involve moving or lifting items under 10 pounds.
Work Hour Requirements:
- Ability to work a flexible schedule based on company needs, including occasional early starts for field teams.
- Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Regular travel to Vorea project sites and periodic travel between New York, New Orleans and Salt Lake City.
Company Benefits:
- Hybrid work model.
- Medical, dental and vision coverage, with three medical plan options.
- Company-paid Life Insurance and Short-Term Disability.
- Paid Parental Leave Program (up to 8 weeks of 100% pay).
- 401(k) matching program (up to 4%).
- Paid vacation, 56 hours of sick pay, and 11 paid company holidays annually.
- Competitive compensation with annual bonus potential.
- Employee Assistance Program and pre-tax commuter benefits.
- Core Value Awards, service awards, and fun extracurricular activities and perks.
