Job Description

Our Social Infrastructure & Citizen Services team has an opportunity for a Carpenter to join the team located in Sydney, NSW. You will be responsible for all the preventative maintenance and repairs for a national retail brand, travelling around greater Sydney region. The Carpenter position comes with a vehicle of trade, Fuel Card, credit card, mobile phone & tablet to receive your work orders. This role will see you service multiple sites throughout the Sydney region.

What you’ll do

This role offers a broad scope, with key responsibilities including:

  • Carry out general maintenance and repairs across sites
  • Perform routine and preventative and reactive maintenance to ensure safety and presentation
  • Respond to maintenance requests promptly and efficiently
  • Complete basic trade tasks (e.g. plumbing, carpentry, minor electrical, painting) within scope
  • Conduct safety checks, identify issues, and ensure compliance with WHS standards

What You’ll bring

  • Proven experience in general maintenance, repairs, or handyperson work
  • Carpentry qualification – essential
  • Construction white card
  • Safety focused – Downer is Zero Harm focused
  • Good time management, problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
  • Able to communicate professionally, manage multiple tasks and maintain accurate records
  • Relevant backgrounds checks including, Medical and National Police Check
