Job Description

If you are passionate about linking environmental measurements with real-world agricultural decisions, this position offers a unique opportunity to work across ecosystem science, greenhouse gas monitoring and sustainability assessment. At DTU Sustain, you will analyse eddy covariance and environmental monitoring data to quantify carbon, water and energy fluxes in agricultural systems, while also working with economic and farm management data to assess the environmental and socio-economic performance of agroforestry systems. Working closely with researchers, farmers, industry partners and decision-makers, you will contribute to developing evidence-based pathways for sustainable agricultural transitions.

Responsibilities and qualifications

Your overall focus will be to support the NASCAR project (Nordic Agroforestry at Scale) by collecting, analysing and integrating environmental and socio-economic data to evaluate the impacts of agroforestry systems in Denmark. You will work closely with researchers, farmers, industry partners and stakeholders to generate new knowledge on greenhouse gas fluxes, carbon sequestration, agricultural productivity and the environmental and economic performance of agroforestry systems.

Your primary tasks will be to

  • Operate and maintain eddy covariance and environmental monitoring equipment
  • Conduct greenhouse gas and other environmental measurements
  • Process and analyse eddy covariance, greenhouse gas flux and meteorological data
  • Collect and analyse economic and farm management data
  • Conduct scenario analyses of agroforestry and agricultural management systems
  • Contribute to sustainability assessments of agroforestry systems
  • Publish scientific papers and contribute to project reporting

As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) in environmental science, ecology, meteorology, biogeochemistry, geography, agricultural systems or a related discipline at the time of employment

We are looking for a candidate who has:

  • Experience with eddy covariance, greenhouse gas measurements, or other environmental monitoring techniques
  • Strong quantitative, statistical and data-analysis skills
  • Experience with R and/or Python
  • Demonstrated scientific writing and publication experience
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills
  • Basic Danish language skills are preferred, as parts of the project involve communication with farmers and other project stakeholders.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
