Summary of Job Role:

This role will work within the Research Department and will be responsible for accurately collating, recording, and interpreting market data, providing a responsive service to our clients, brokers, and management. You will project manage data quality projects and contribute to other research activities.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

• Research, collate and accurately update Gibson’s proprietary databases including freight rates, fixtures and other relevant market information.

• Utilize automated and AI driven workflows to help streamline efficiency and increase data quality.

• Support Gibson’s shipbrokers and broking clients research requests, including but not limited to, assembling, organising and distributing data sets, reports, charts, forecasts, preparing presentations and analysis.

• Compile daily, monthly and weekly data deliveries.

• Take an active role in delivering and developing Gibson’s consulting service.

Essential Skills/Experience:

• Educated to degree level, with at least two years work experience in an energy and/or shipping analyst role

• Excellent excel skills and writing skills

• Good understanding of relational databases and data governance

• Attention to detail/accuracy

• Excellent communication skills

• Positive mentality and approach, proactive and shows initiative

• Personal drive and motivation to continuously progress

• Flexible with willingness to learn and develop new skills

Desirable Skills/Experience:

• Oil/energy market knowledge

• Good SQL and/or Python skills

• Advanced excel/modelling skills

• An understanding on how to write effective AI prompts
