POSITION SUMMARY

Plans layouts, installs, maintains, and repairs electrical wiring, equipment, and control equipment on marine vessels and shipyard buildings in accordance with plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. Work with other crafts as instructed by supervision.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: Because Eastern Shipbuilding is continually growing to meet the needs of our customers, and the essential duties and responsibilities may be different from those described.

  • Regular attendance at work and the ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
  • Comply with Company, federal, state, and local safety, ethics, and environmental rules, regulations, and policies while performing duties.
  • Install, maintain, and repair wiring, electrical systems, and equipment on marine vessels and shipyard buildings.
  • Inspects systems and electrical parts to detect hazards, defects, and needs for adjustments or repair.
  • Test internal circuits of major units of electrical equipment for continuity, short circuits, and grounds and measure electrical quantities and compare with established values.
  • Troubleshoot electrical equipment and circuits using appropriate test equipment to detect and affect required maintenance, repairs, or replacement requirements.
  • Perform maintenance and repair of generators, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, electrical motors, distribution panels, alarm systems, and lighting circuits.
  • Maintain and repair electrical power generating and distribution systems; voltage regulators engine governors, and equipment; machinery monitoring and remote-control systems; power, control, and display systems of shipboard equipment and DC propulsion generators, motors, and control circuits.
  • Work with minimal supervision.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
