The posting

Position Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable helper with background in handling mobile products to join our growing mobile device team. This role focuses primarily on sorting, identifying, grading, testing, and processing mobile phones and tablets for resale, refurbishment, or parts recovery. The successful candidate will use diagnostic and testing software, such as Phonecheck, to assess device functionality, record test results, update inventory information, and ensure devices are processed accurately and efficiently. Basic troubleshooting and familiarity with mobile device hardware are beneficial. Extensive repair experience is not required, as training will be provided for testing procedures, software applications, and standard processing workflows. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in mobile technology, electronics refurbishment, and device remarketing. Key Responsibilities 1. Device Sorting & Classification

Sort and categorize mobile phones, tablets and other kinds of electronics by brand, model, and physical condition. Identify device models and verify basic device information, including storage capacity and other relevant specifications. Grade devices based on cosmetic condition, functionality, and overall resale potential. Separate devices into appropriate categories for resale, further testing, refurbishment, or parts harvesting. Identify devices with missing components, visible damage, or other conditions requiring additional review.

2. Device Testing & Software Applications

Use device testing and diagnostic software, such as Phonecheck, to perform standardized functionality tests. Follow established testing procedures to assess key functions, including the display, touchscreen, cameras, speakers, microphones, charging, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and cellular connectivity. Perform basic checks of battery health, device status, and other available diagnostic information. Identify and flag failed tests, abnormal results, and potential hardware or software issues for further review. Perform basic software-related tasks, such as device resets, operating system updates, and data wiping, following established procedures and authorization requirements. Learn and follow standard testing workflows to ensure consistent and reliable results.

3. Data Entry & Inventory Management

Enter device information, test results, cosmetic grades, and processing status into the company's inventory or tracking system. Ensure device records are accurate, complete, and properly updated throughout the processing workflow. Record model numbers, serial numbers, IMEI information, and other required identifiers where applicable. Maintain accurate records of devices processed, tested, and categorized. Identify and report discrepancies between physical devices, testing results, and inventory records. Assist with preparing basic reports and maintaining organized digital records.

4. Basic Troubleshooting & Repair Support

Recognize common device issues and determine whether further testing or technical review is required. Perform basic troubleshooting by following established procedures and diagnostic results. Assist with simple component replacement or device disassembly when trained and authorized. Identify potentially reusable components and devices suitable for further refurbishment or parts recovery. Escalate complex technical issues and repairs to the appropriate team member.

5. General Operations & Quality Control

Follow established processing procedures, quality standards, and productivity expectations. Keep workstations, tools, and devices organized. Handle electronic devices carefully and follow applicable safety procedures, particularly when handling damaged or swollen batteries. Assist with general device processing, inventory organization, and material movement as required. Work collaboratively with team members to support daily operational targets.

Required Qualifications

Basic knowledge of mobile phones and tablets, including Apple, Samsung, Google, Motorola, and other Android devices. Basic computer skills, including data entry, navigating software applications, and maintaining digital records. Ability to follow detailed instructions and standardized testing procedures. Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling devices and entering information. Good organizational skills and the ability to manage repetitive tasks efficiently. Basic understanding of mobile device functionality and common technical issues. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Reliable, responsible, and willing to learn new tools, software, and processes.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience in mobile device processing, electronics recycling, refurbishment, warehousing, or inventory management. Familiarity with device testing software such as Phonecheck or similar diagnostic applications. Experience identifying, sorting, grading, or inspecting used electronic devices. Experience with inventory systems, spreadsheets, barcode scanning, or data entry. Experience driving a forklift on occasions. Basic experience with mobile device troubleshooting, software updates, or data wiping. Previous exposure to cell phone repair or component replacement is an asset but not required.

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while processing devices. Ability to handle small electronic devices and accessories carefully. Ability to lift and move boxes of devices and equipment as required. Ability to perform repetitive inspection, testing, and data entry tasks with consistent accuracy.

Success Factors The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working with a variety of mobile devices and computer applications. They can efficiently identify and classify devices, follow standardized testing procedures, accurately record results, and recognize issues that require further review. Success in this role depends more on accuracy, consistency, software proficiency, and efficient device processing than on advanced repair or diagnostic expertise. Candidates with a willingness to learn and a strong work ethic are encouraged to apply.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
