Job Description

Job: Account Executive (Tour Consultant)

Location: In-office; Boston, MA

Start Date: January 19th, 2027

Your Opportunity:

As an Educational Tour Consultant, you'll oversee a geographic territory of schools in the United States and run it like your own business. Your mission? To inspire educators to show their students the world, serving as their partner to create international travel programs at their schools. You'll source and connect with teachers, consult with them to select the right tour based on their students' interests and learning needs, help them build excitement in their community and enroll students, and support preparing the group for a successful departure. Then you'll do it all again, earning repeat business as teachers bring their groups back year after year. Along the way, you'll coach teachers to make travel-based learning an essential part of education in their school, create your territory roadmap to drive sustainable growth in teachers and students, resolve business challenges, and combine sales and service that puts customers first. We will onboard you, provide ongoing training, and support your continued career development.

What You’ll Do:

  • Own your business. Manage and grow a geographic territory of existing and prospective customers, owning your book of business from start to finish
  • Prospect and convert. Make a high volume of calls and target outreach to identify new schools and educators, then turn interest into established travel programs.
  • Hit your numbers. Forecast and hit key account metrics (monthly and quarterly sales projections and goals)
  • Support groups end to end. Make it easy for teachers every step of the way—from inspiring them to lead a tour, to helping them recruit student travelers, preparing them for departure, ensuring they enjoy their time on tour, return home safely, and repeat.
  • Handle the unexpected. Put your customers first while you use your knowledge of EF procedures to successfully solve pre-tour, on-tour, and post-tour challenges. Don’t worry – after training, you’ll be an expert!
  • Use modern tools. Use AI and other tools to sharpen your outreach, follow-up, and in-person meetings.
  • Advise educators. Field incoming phone calls from teachers across the organization to help with tour related questions, events, and emergencies.
  • Adapt to the school calendar. Shift your priorities and focus based on the seasonality of the school-year calendar, supporting teachers through planning, recruitment, departure, and return seasons.
  • Change lives. Sell a product that truly shapes how students view the world by being fearless, focused and having fun! And you travel too!

Who You Are:

People from all different professional and educational backgrounds have thrived in this role, building their sales acumen and establishing strong relationships supporting our customers. Here's what they have in common - sound like you?

  • You’re eager to start, or expand, your career in sales with a role that offers real responsibility and accountability
  • You have a "nothing is impossible" mindset. When faced with a challenge, you stay curious and come back ready to try again.
  • You enjoy growing relationships and winning new business, and you are equally committed to delivering a great experience for every group
  • You’re a great persuasive communicator and natural networker who loves talking to people
  • You know that you can sell and you’re not afraid to prove it
  • You’re committing to going above and beyond any goals set in front of you
  • You don’t subscribe to the phrase, “that’s not my job”. You take ownership and find ways to make things better
  • You are flexible, with the ability to pivot quickly in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment to meet the needs of our customers
  • You nail the details while moving quickly, never losing sight of the big picture
  • You want to be part of a team that motivates and inspires you while having fun

Why you’ll love working here: Perks, Benefits, and more!

This is the most fun, high caliber place you’ll ever work. Ask any employee why they love EF (whether they’ve been here 10 minutes or 10 years) and they’ll probably tell you the same thing: it’s the people. When you work at EF, you join a purpose-driven, international and energetic community that thrives on continuous learning, fearless innovation and mutual support.

In addition, you can expect:

  • Commitment to professional growth: robust monthly calendar of trainings and workshops

  • Exciting business travel opportunities
  • 25% company match on your 401(k) contributions

  • Dependent care, healthcare and commuter Flex Spending Accounts (FSAs)
  • Access to fertility care and family-building support
  • Wellness benefits including a yearly fitness reimbursement

  • Discounts at local venues and businesses
  • Amazing offices designed to match the caliber of the people who work there, plus the flexibility of working from home one day a week.

Compensation: First-year Tour Consultants have an on-target earning potential of $60,000 (base salary starting at $50,000 and $10,000 bonus potential). In addition, there is an uncapped bonus for exceeding sales goals. OTE increases to $70,000 after 12 months, and at 24 months you will have the opportunity to apply for a senior sales position with an increase to $85,000 OTE. Full comp plan details, and future earning potential, will be reviewed during the interview process.

About Us

Some companies are in the business of banking. Others are in the business of shoes. Or sports. Or soft drinks. At EF, we're in a different kind of business. One that's a little less tangible, and a lot more important. Because our business, what we make, makes everything else possible. We're in the business of understanding. Between people. Between cultures.

For over half a century we’ve been the leader in international educational programs and experiences designed to foster such understanding. Through language, cultural exchange, academic studies, and educational travel, we create the kinds of immersive experiences that challenge biases, open minds, and pave the way for a more understanding world.

You’ll find our offices and schools located in some of the world’s greatest cities, and filled with smart, driven people (over 50,000 of us) who push each other to be better every day. But it’s what we do together - building greater understanding, breaking down barriers, and creating a better world - that makes all the difference.

Founded in 1965 in Sweden, EF (Education First) is a global association of education companies that share a common mission of opening the world through education. EF has been recognized on Forbes 2025 and 2024 World’s Best Employers and 2024 Top Companies for Women lists, Fast Company’s 2025 Next Big Things In Tech, and was a 2024 App Store Award winner in Cultural Impact.

EF Educational Tours teams up with educators to take students beyond the classroom on immersive international travel programs. We deliver educational experiences powered by a proven learning method that’s designed to build essential skills, like curiosity and communication. Our tours are where learning meets life—they give students firsthand experience of the world, and unlock the type of personal growth that prepares them for their futures.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
