We work hand-in-hand with our clients across every aspect of transport, energy, and the built environment to create a more balanced, sustainable, and resilient world. The Egis Group boasts over 50 years of experience and a team of 16,000 employees in more than 120 countries worldwide. Joining our Group means, above all, sharing our values as a people-first company, firmly committed to sustainability and innovation.

Complex and challenging, globally networked, highly regulated, and safety-critical – yet also influenced by market forces and ‘shocks’ – it’s hardly surprising that few firms can claim to understand the aviation industry truly. We do. With more than 4,000 successful projects delivered in over 100 countries for over 50 years, Egis has been dedicated to ensuring safe, smooth, and sustainable aviation for all who fly. Our teams consist of consultants, engineers, and operational experts based in several locations, primarily in France, the UK, the Middle East, and Asia. From consulting to operations, through engineering and project management, we address the global needs of all our customers, including ANSPs, industry players, and governments, enhancing the efficiency and safety of operations through nearly every significant change in the industry.

Job Description

Overall Purpose

We are looking for a CNS/ATM Safety Assurance Engineer to join our Air Traffic Management team in Singapore and support the delivery of safety-critical aviation projects across the Asia-Pacific region.

The role will primarily support Egis' consultancy assignments for the Civil Aviation Authorities in the Asia-Pacific region in relation to the implementation of new Air Traffic Management (ATM) systems, as well as associated Communication, Navigation and Surveillance (CNS) systems. The successful candidate will provide independent safety engineering and assurance support throughout the systems lifecycle, from requirements and design through integration, transition, operational acceptance and subsequent change.

The position combines hands-on safety analysis, client-facing workshops facilitation, supplier documentation review and safety-case development. It will also act as a regional safety subject matter expert for Egis ATM projects and bids across APAC, including airspace design, ATM system replacement, air traffic control towers and centres, GBAS, integrated tower systems and other CNS/ATM critical changes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct safety management, system safety engineering and software safety assurance activities for Civil Aviation Authorities CNS/ATM systems in accordance with local and regional requirements, ICAO provisions, recognised RTCA/EUROCAE guidance and international good practices.
  • Develop, maintain and review safety plans, safety strategies, safety arguments, safety cases, hazard logs, assumptions, safety requirements, recommendations, compliance evidence and outstanding actions throughout the projects lifecycle.
  • Plan, facilitate and document multidisciplinary safety workshops, including SCARS, HAZID, functional hazard assessment, preliminary system safety assessment and system safety assessment activities.
  • Perform or review hazard identification and risk assessment activities using appropriate techniques, including functional failure analysis, FMEA/FMECA, fault tree analysis, common-mode analysis, bow-tie analysis and Goal Structuring Notation (GSN).

Qualifications

Education and Training

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in systems engineering, safety engineering, software engineering, electronic engineering, computer science, aviation or another relevant discipline.
  • Formal training or recognised professional development in system safety, safety assurance, aviation safety management or software assurance is strongly desirable.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English, with the ability to produce high-quality client-facing technical documentation and facilitate workshops.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications. Experience with requirements, hazard-log, modelling or safety-analysis tools is desirable.

Required Experience

  • At least five years of relevant experience in ATM or CNS/ATM safety engineering, safety assurance, safety management or safety assessment in a comparable role.
  • Demonstrable experience delivering safety activities for ANS equipment, ATM systems or other complex safety-critical systems, preferably for an ANSP, aviation authority, system supplier or specialist consultancy.
  • Practical experience facilitating safety workshops and developing or reviewing hazard logs, safety requirements, safety arguments and safety cases.
  • Experience applying safety assessment techniques such as HAZID, FHA, PSSA, SSA, FMEA/FMECA, FTA, common-cause or common-mode analysis and structured risk assessment.
  • Experience reviewing supplier safety documentation and assessing compliance, traceability, evidence quality and closure of safety actions.
  • Working knowledge of ATC operations and the lifecycle of ATM system acquisition, design, integration, verification, transition, commissioning, operation and change.
  • Experience in software safety assurance for ground-based CNS/ATM systems, including assurance-level allocation and lifecycle evidence, is strongly desirable.
  • Experience with voice communication systems, VHF, surveillance, navigation, GBAS, digital or integrated towers, ATM centres, airspace change or safety-critical ICT architectures is advantageous.
  • Experience working directly with clients and multidisciplinary, multicultural project teams. Previous consultancy experience is desirable.

Standards and Industry Knowledge

  • ICAO Annex 19 and ICAO Doc 9859, together with relevant ICAO Annexes and PANS material applicable to ATM, CNS and air navigation services.
  • EUROCONTROL Safety Assessment Methodology, including FHA, PSSA and SSA, and familiarity with ESARR 4 and ESARR 6 where relevant.
  • RTCA DO-278A / EUROCAE ED-109A for software integrity assurance in CNS/ATM ground systems, and EUROCAE ED-153 for ANS software safety assurance.
  • Goal Structuring Notation and structured safety argumentation, including familiarity with SCSC guidance.
  • Awareness of related standards and guidance, where applicable, such as SAE ARP4761, RTCA DO-330, IEC 61508, ISO 31000 and systems-engineering lifecycle practices.
  • Current awareness of ICAO APAC, CANSO and other APAC regional safety and ATM modernisation initiatives, including FF-ICE, TBO, SWIM, digitalisation, resilient architectures and evolving CNS capabilities.

Additional Information

Location and Employment

  • The role is based in Singapore and is expected to work closely with Civil Aviation Authorities in the APAC region and project stakeholders.
  • Applications will be assessed on skills, experience and suitability for the role.
  • Remuneration will be discussed with shortlisted candidates and determined according to experience, qualifications and the overall profile.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
