The posting

Who we are:

Electra is reinventing ironmaking from the ground up with a breakthrough electrochemical technology that produces high purity clean iron and critical co-minerals. With two operating pilots in Boulder and a new demonstration facility underway in Jefferson County, we’re on track to reach commercial scale by the end of the decade. Backed by over $300 million and strategic partnerships with global leaders across mining, steel, and big tech, momentum is on our side. Recognized by Fast Company as a Most Innovative Company and a Next Big Thing in Tech, and named one of TIME’s 100 Climate Leaders, we’re building a company shaping the future of industry. If you’re looking to make an impact and join a team that’s driven, focused, and scaling, we want to hear from you.

What you will do:

As the Senior Director, FP&A and Strategic Finance you will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial positioning and long-term growth strategy of the company. Partnering closely with the CFO, Business and Strategy teams, Engineering, Operations, and Project Development teams, you will drive long-range financial planning, strategic finance initiatives, and support leading fundraising activities and project finance efforts that support Electra's path to commercial scale. You will leverage your expertise in FP&A, financial modeling, and capital markets and investor engagement to build a clear picture of the company’s financial outlook, optimize capital deployment decisions, and support in driving the right capital structure to support the next stages of growth. This is an exceptional opportunity to help build the financial foundation of a high-impact climate technology company.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead the annual budgeting process, quarterly reforecasts, and long-range financial planning activities
  • Develop and maintain integrated income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow forecasts to support strategic planning and capital deployment decisions including capital expenditure planning and portfolio-level prioritization of capital investments
  • Own monthly financial performance reviews, management reporting, and variance analysis, providing actionable insights to executive leadership and be a Business Partner to the organization
  • Evaluate customer, product, and manufacturing economics, including contribution margin, profitability, and cash flow implications
  • Build scenarios and decision frameworks to support scale-up planning, capacity expansion, sequencing, and capital allocation decisions
  • Oversee liquidity planning and cash flow forecasting to ensure adequate funding for operations, investments, and strategic growth initiatives
  • Lead capital raising efforts, including equity, debt, export credit agency financing, project financing, public-private financing structures, and hybrid instruments to support corporate strategy and growth initiatives
  • Develop and maintain robust project finance models, including sensitivities, downside cases, financing scenarios, and investment return analyses
  • Support development of bankable assumptions, lender presentations, investor diligence materials, and financing cases for large-scale projects
  • Manage investor relations activities and serve as the primary finance lead for investor requests, diligence work streams, and data room management
  • Develop and maintain investor presentations, board materials, executive dashboards, financing analyses, and strategic planning materials
  • Translate complex financial analyses into concise recommendations for executive leadership and the Board of Directors
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive capital structure models, financing strategies, and an integrated corporate financial model aligned with both short- and long-term objectives
  • Ensure compliance with loan covenants, regulatory disclosures, reporting requirements, and financing obligations
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing FP&A and strategic finance function through hiring, coaching, and performance development
  • Improve financial planning processes, reporting automation, financial systems, and data governance capabilities across the organization
  • Foster a culture of analytical rigor, business partnership, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the finance organization

What we need you to bring to the team:

  • 12+ years of experience working with FP&A, strategic finance, corporate finance, investment banking, or related financial leadership roles (excludes internships and co-ops)
  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining integrated financial models, including income statement, balance sheet, cash flow, and project finance models
  • Experience supporting executive leadership teams and Boards of Directors through financial reporting, strategic planning, and decision support
  • Proven ability to evaluate large-scale capital projects, manufacturing investments, and strategic growth opportunities
  • Experience supporting debt financing, project finance, export credit agency financing, infrastructure financing, or other complex capital structures
  • Strong business partnering experience with engineering, operations, commercial, and corporate functions in a rapidly scaling organization
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex analyses into clear strategic recommendations and executive-level communications
  • Experience leading, developing, and scaling high-performing finance teams

What we want you to bring to the team:

  • MBA or advanced degree in finance, economics, or a related field
  • Proven track record of leading capital raises and fundraising efforts for early-stage companies

Compensation:

  • The anticipated starting pay range for this position is $189,000-$250,000. Compensation will vary based on experience and qualifications, with offers determined by skills, experience, and overall alignment with the role. The top of the salary range is usually reserved for candidates with highly specialized expertise and extensive relevant experience.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
