Job description – Assistant Caretaker

Do you take pride in creating safe, clean, and inspiring environments? Are you proactive, organised, and ready to make a real difference every day? If so, this could be the perfect role for you!

We are looking for a dedicated assistant caretaker to join our school family. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in ensuring our school is a welcoming, secure, and attractive well-maintained space where children can thrive.

About Us

We are a warm and inclusive Primary school at the heart of its community, situated just a few miles north of Lincoln. Our aim as a Church of England is ‘educating for life in all its fullness’. We are deeply committed to high quality professional development for all our staff.

About the Role

As assistant caretaker, you will play a vital role in keeping our school safe, secure, and welcoming for children, staff, and visitors. Managing cleaning standards and ensuring the security of the premises, you’ll take pride in creating an environment where learning can flourish. This is a hands-on, varied role that requires practical skills, strong organisation, and a proactive approach as every day brings a new challenge and the chance to make a real difference.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To be responsible for the cleaning of a specified area in accordance with the school’s current standards and methods
  • To store cleaning equipment and materials in a safe place
  • To report to the immediate supervisor any problems relating to cleaning equipment and materials
  • To carry out caretaking duties as directed by the Headteacher/School Business Manager/Site Manager as outlined on the job information sheet. E.g. minor repairs to fabric or building and/or equipment

We Are Looking For

• Someone who takes pride in creating a safe, clean, and welcoming school environment. • A proactive and positive team member who communicates well and works collaboratively. • Someone who is organised, dependable, and able to manage tasks independently. • Someone committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of children and staff.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
