The posting
At eMed, our Engineering organisation is structured around teams we call 'pillars'. Each pillar owns a specific area of our product, with responsibility for shaping its roadmap and driving delivery forward.
Product defines what we build and why. Engineering owns how we build it and when it ships. That means taking the lead on estimates, prioritisation and sequencing, delivery planning, managing dependencies and ensuring we make realistic commitments on timelines to the wider business.
With most of our Engineering team based in the UK and our Product team in the US, effective delivery coordination across time zones is essential.
We're looking for a Delivery Lead to bring everything together across our Engineering pillars, providing clear direction, structure and visibility across delivery. You'll be responsible for planning and coordinating delivery across all pillars, as well as leading delivery operations in the UK.
We're also expanding our delivery capability in the US, where we'll be hiring a delivery colleague who will report directly to you. Together, you'll form a joined-up delivery function, working across both countries to maintain one integrated delivery plan and provide stakeholders with a single, reliable view of progress, key milestones, timelines and risks.
This is a brand-new role within Engineering, offering a great opportunity to shape how delivery works at eMed as we continue to grow. You'll have the chance to establish strong ways of working, bring teams together and make a tangible impact on how we plan, manage and deliver our product roadmap.
Please note: This is a office based role, Monday to Friday (9am - 6pm). We are based in Euston, London.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON:
- Delivery across pillars Run delivery planning across pillars. You will work with each pillar lead to sequence work, record dependencies between pillars and keep status current in Jira. Forecast delivery. You will give dates as ranges with a stated confidence level and narrow the range as milestones complete. Work with product managers and engineering managers to break initiatives into epics. Each epic needs a clear scope, a technical approach and a named owner. Record a named person from each pillar on the epic when work spans two pillars. Support pillar leads when urgent work displaces planned work. The pillar lead decides what moves. You make sure the people waiting on that work hear the revised date. Build the delivery practice. This covers the planning cadence, status reporting, release coordination, and how we measure forecast accuracy and delivery predictability. Work with our QA team on test planning and release readiness.
- Working with the US delivery role Agree one delivery plan and one reporting format with your US colleague, so stakeholders in both countries see the same status, dates and risks. Split coverage across UK and US hours, so engineers and product managers can get a delivery answer during their own working day.
- Senior stakeholders Report delivery status, dates and risks to eMed's executive team, to engineering leadership and to the commercial teams waiting on client and product launches. Answer questions from senior leaders on status, dates and risk quickly, usually the same day and often on the spot. To do that, you need to know the current state of every committed piece of work without first asking each team. Tell senior stakeholders early when a date is at risk. Explain the cause, what has moved and what the new range is. Write updates that a senior leader can read in two minutes.
- Using AI - You will use AI tools in your daily work and help the delivery function use them well. For example: Produce status reports and stakeholder updates from Jira, Slack and meeting notes. Summarise risks and dependencies across pillars. Build and check delivery forecasts. Find the answer to a senior leader's question in minutes rather than hours. In the interview, we will ask you to show how you use AI in your current role.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
- At least 5 years in delivery management, programme management or technical project management at a software product company.
- Experience coordinating several engineering teams that share a platform and depend on each other's work.
- Experience reporting to and working with executives. You can give a clear answer under questioning and say plainly when you do not know.
- Regular, hands-on use of AI tools in your work, with examples you can show us.
- Experience forecasting delivery with ranges or probabilistic methods.
- Experience working with colleagues in the US, or managing someone in another time zone.
- Enough technical understanding to discuss architecture, integration and release risk with engineers. You will not write code in this role.
- Strong working knowledge of Jira.
Desirable:
- Experience in healthcare or another regulated industry.
- Experience delivering integrations or launches for B2B clients and partners.
WHAT WE OFFER:
- Competitive Salary
- 25 days holiday + eMed flex-leave
- 5% employer pension contribution for 5% employee contribution
- Life Insurance 4x annual base salary
- Health cash plan
- Employee Assistance Program
- Eye care voucher reimbursement (up to £20)
