We are seeking an experienced Quality Control Manager with a strong background in an auto body or collision repair shop to lead quality control for used automotive parts moving from our dismantling operations into the warehouse. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in an auto body environment, including receiving, inspecting, and evaluating automotive parts for condition, damage, completeness, and quality. They understand the standards required for parts to be acceptable for use and can recognize when a part does not meet those standards. This role goes beyond inspecting parts. The Quality Control Manager will be responsible for improving overall part quality, establishing and enforcing consistent standards across all locations, identifying the root causes of recurring quality issues, and implementing process improvements that prevent problems from happening again. We are looking for someone who can work closely with operational teams, train employees, hold teams accountable, and build a culture where quality is everyone's responsibility. Important: Strong auto body shop or collision repair experience is required. General automotive mechanic experience alone does not meet the requirements for this position. This position pays $75 – 90k/yr Key Responsibilities
Oversee the quality of automotive parts moving from dismantling operations into warehouse inventory. Establish, communicate, and enforce quality standards for part condition, identification, grading, completeness, labeling, and documentation. Ensure consistent application of quality standards across all locations and shifts. Apply practical knowledge of auto body shop and collision repair standards to evaluate the condition and quality of automotive parts. Inspect and audit parts to ensure they meet company standards before being added to inventory and made available for sale. Identify defective, damaged, incomplete, or incorrectly identified parts and determine the appropriate corrective action. Lead, train, coach, and manage the Quality Control team, including scheduling, performance management, and accountability. Develop standardized inspection procedures, checklists, and work instructions. Monitor quality performance metrics, including defects, rejections, rework, returns, and first-pass quality. Investigate recurring quality issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions. Partner with Dismantling leadership to improve quality at the source and reduce the number of parts that fail inspection. Collaborate with Warehouse Operations, Inventory Control, and Sales to address quality issues affecting inventory accuracy, customer satisfaction, returns, and warranty claims. Identify and implement process improvements that reduce defects, rework, scrap, and customer complaints. Conduct ongoing quality audits to verify that procedures and standards are being followed. Communicate quality performance, trends, and improvement recommendations to Operations leadership. Ensure employees follow established quality, material-handling, and safety procedures. Participate in operational meetings and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Strong, hands-on experience working in an auto body shop, collision repair facility, or comparable collision-parts environment. Experience receiving, inspecting, evaluating, or verifying the quality and condition of automotive body parts. Working knowledge of automotive body parts and the ability to identify damage, defects, missing components, and other quality concerns. At least 3 years of relevant automotive, quality control, or related operational experience. At least 2 years of experience supervising or leading employees. Experience establishing, maintaining, or enforcing quality standards and inspection procedures. Demonstrated experience identifying root causes of problems and implementing corrective actions. Strong process-improvement, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Ability to hold employees and teams accountable for following established standards. Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills. Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office. Ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse and automotive operations environment.
Candidates whose experience is limited to general automotive mechanical repair, without substantial auto body or collision repair shop experience, will not be a fit for this role. #LI-Onsite IND02
