Sompo has a unique opportunity for an Actuarial Intern in our North America Pricing team.
The Internship Program is a 10-week development initiative designed to provide professional growth with potential long-term opportunity for successful individuals interested in the Insurance/Reinsurance industry.
As an Actuarial Intern, you will receive hands-on training by working closely with highly experienced actuaries, gaining in-depth knowledge of the organization's business units and pricing philosophy. The program combines on-the-job learning, workplace mentoring, and interaction with Actuaries, Underwriters, and other business members.

On-the-job Learning
Insurance requires a high degree of experience and expertise – something you can’t learn in the classroom. You will assist Senior Actuaries in the department with pricing and research. This will include help with line of business studies, individual account pricing and general reporting requirements.
Activities, Learning and Development
Throughout the program, Interns will have the opportunity to hear from executive leaders, participate in structured, engaging leadership learnings, participate in networking events and activities with peers, members of our Executive team and outside brokerage firms, and be part of a project to present to their manager and mentor. Our business, your impact, our opportunity: What you’ll bring: • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or graduate degree program, preferably majoring in the STEM fields (e.g., Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Engineering, etc.) for the full duration of the internship • Rising Junior or Senior • Genuine interest in developing a career in the insurance industry • A strong aptitude for analytical reasoning and quantitative skills, as well as intellectual curiosity, and interest in Actuary. • Successfully passed or be sitting for at least one CAS Exam is preferred • Willingness to learn and contribute to team projects • Ability to articulate ideas clearly through written and verbal communication • Solution-oriented mindset and data analytical skills • Detail-oriented, organized, and tech-savvy (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint) • Local to the desired office location or able to arrange housing and transportation in the area to support an in-office working arrangement during the internship • Eligible candidates must be at least 18 years old and authorized to work in the United States without restriction
Salary Range: $22-24. Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
