About Us

Engelhart was founded in 2013 by BTG Pactual Group as a commodities trading company. Our business model is “asset light” and highly diversified – giving us the ability to adapt effectively and nimbly to changing market conditions. We have assembled successful multidisciplinary teams, leveraging advanced fundamental analysis with deep quantitative and weather research capabilities. Our activities are underpinned by strong risk management practices and by powerful technology and operational excellence. We have exceptional teams with diverse global backgrounds and decades of experience, and are driven by a highly collaborative culture, across products and competencies.

In 2024, Engelhart acquired Trailstone, a global energy trading and technology company. The acquisition provides us with new expertise, analytics and proprietary technology which is being used to provide risk management and optimisation services to help maximise the value of our clients’ renewable power. The acquisition also expanded Engelhart’s capabilities into physical natural gas across North America, a critical fuel to support the energy transition.

Our talented and experienced individuals work together according to its four company values: Performance, Agility, Collaboration, Entrepreneurship.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Global Middle Office team as a Middle Office Analyst based in either Houston TX or Stamford CT. The analyst will perform a key controlling function, supporting daily P&L calculation, valuation, position management, and risk oversight across multiple commodity trading businesses. In addition, the role will focus on driving process improvement, automation, data analytics, and AI-enabled solutions to enhance the scalability and effectiveness of Middle Office operations.

The successful candidate will work closely with Trading, Market Risk, Operations, Finance, IT, and senior business stakeholders, serving as both a trusted business partner and a catalyst for continuous improvement across the organization. This role offers significant exposure to North American physical and financial Power & Gas markets while providing opportunities to lead strategic initiatives that strengthen controls, improve reporting, and leverage technology to create operational efficiencies.

This will be a full-time role, owning the following responsibilities:

  • Analyze daily P&L movements, positions, and risk exposures, providing meaningful commentary and challenge to trading desks and stakeholders.
  • Price and validate Futures, Options and Swap products, supporting daily mark-to-market and valuation processes.
  • Serve as a key liaison between Trading, Market Risk, Finance, Operations, IT, ISOs, and FCMs to resolve issues and support business initiatives.
  • Lead the identification, design, and implementation of process improvements to enhance efficiency, scalability, and control effectiveness across the Middle Office function.
  • Develop and maintain automation solutions using Python, SQL, AI tools, and other technologies to streamline reporting, reconciliations, data validation, and operational workflows.
  • Evaluate and implement practical AI-driven solutions to improve data quality, exception management, reporting, documentation, and business decision support.
  • Design and enhance dashboards, analytics, and exception-based monitoring tools to provide actionable insights into P&L, positions, risk, and operational performance.
  • Partner with business and technology teams on strategic projects, system enhancements, and data initiatives that improve operational resilience and support business growth.
  • Continuously review existing processes and controls, identifying opportunities to reduce operational risk, eliminate manual effort, and improve overall effectiveness.

We believe the following experiences and skills will best set up this individual for success:

  • 3-5 years of commodities or derivatives market experience
  • Advanced Python coding and SQL knowledge
  • Experience leveraging AI/LLM tools for business process automation
  • Power BI, Tableau, or similar visualization platforms
  • Data analytics and workflow automation experience
  • Commodities trading, risk, or Middle Office experience preferred
  • Strong process improvement and project management capabilities

In addition, the following are not essential but highly desirable:

  • Familiarity with the following applications: Bloomberg, Zema, WebICE, CME Direct.

What we offer

  • Competitive compensation and participation in Engelhart’s discretionary bonus plan.
  • 20 days of annual holiday entitlement, excluding US public holidays.
  • Robust benefits package such as Medical, Dental, Vision, Life insurance, 401(k) match, and supplemental benefits partially subsidised by the Company.
  • Eligibility to receive external and internal training in accordance with our Training & Development Policy.

We believe in inclusivity and are therefore dedicated to ensuring all employees – across gender identity, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, life experience, background and more – feel welcome and included in the company. Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
