The posting

This is a very exciting time at Enovix! We are looking for an experienced AME Assembly Engineer to support the development, installation, validation, ramp-up, and continuous improvement of assembly equipment for the company’s next-generation battery manufacturing lines. The position will work closely with AME, Process Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and equipment suppliers to establish stable, scalable, and high-throughput assembly operations.

Job Summary: The AME Assembly Engineer will lead engineering activities for battery cell assembly equipment and processes, with a primary focus on joining technologies, assembly operations, equipment setup and validation, process optimization, and capacity improvement. The role is responsible for ensuring that new and existing assembly equipment meets safety, quality, throughput, reliability, and manufacturability requirements.

The position will play a key role in improving overall equipment performance by reducing cycle time, eliminating non-value-added time, resolving chronic equipment and process issues, and supporting production ramp-up through structured engineering validation and data-driven improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Assembly Equipment & Process Engineering

  • Lead engineering activities for battery assembly processes, including joining, sealing, cutting, punching, and related material-handling operations.
  • Develop and optimize joining processes using ultrasonic welding, laser welding, resistance welding, or other applicable joining technologies.
  • Support equipment concept review, design specification, supplier technical evaluation, and design-for-manufacturability activities.
  • Define critical process parameters, equipment requirements, control plans, and acceptance criteria for assembly equipment.

Equipment Installation, Setup & Validation

  • Support equipment installation, commissioning, setup, debug, and production readiness activities.
  • Plan and execute equipment qualification and validation, including FAT, SAT, IQ, OQ, PQ, capability studies, and run-at-rate testing as applicable.
  • Verify equipment safety, functionality, repeatability, process capability, and compliance with engineering specifications.
  • Support initial production ramp-up and stabilize equipment performance through structured issue tracking and corrective actions.

Process Optimization & Capacity Improvement

  • Analyze process performance and equipment losses to improve yield, quality, uptime, cycle time, and throughput.
  • Maximize production capacity by identifying and eliminating waste time, bottlenecks, unnecessary motion, waiting time, and recurring equipment stops.
  • Conduct time studies, line balancing, bottleneck analysis, and capacity modeling to improve overall line performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement using data analysis, DOE, SPC, root cause analysis, and structured problem-solving methodologies.

Equipment Reliability & Issue Resolution

  • Lead troubleshooting of equipment, tooling, joining, sealing, cutting, punching, and material-handling issues.
  • Identify root causes of chronic failures and implement sustainable corrective and preventive actions.
  • Improve equipment reliability, maintainability, changeover efficiency, and spare-parts strategy in collaboration with Maintenance and Manufacturing teams.
  • Support development of equipment KPIs such as OEE, uptime, MTBF, MTTR, cycle time, and first-pass yield.

Supplier & Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Manage technical communication with equipment suppliers and ensure timely closure of design, build, installation, and validation issues.
  • Collaborate with Process Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, EHS, Controls, Data/Algorithm Engineering, and Product Development teams.
  • Prepare technical reports, validation documentation, process specifications, work instructions, and improvement plans.
  • Support standardization of assembly equipment and processes for future production lines and manufacturing expansion.

Compliance & Standardization

  • Ensure assembly equipment and processes comply with company EHS, quality, machine safety, and change-control requirements.
  • Establish equipment and process standards for joining, assembly, validation, documentation, and production readiness.
  • Support calibration, traceability, preventive maintenance, and audit-readiness requirements for assembly equipment.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in manufacturing equipment engineering, process engineering, automation, or production line implementation.
  • Hands-on experience with assembly equipment, joining processes, equipment setup, commissioning, or validation.
  • Understanding of mechanical systems, pneumatics, sensors, actuators, servo systems, tooling, and industrial automation.
  • Experience with structured problem solving, root cause analysis, process capability, and data-driven improvement.
  • Ability to read and review equipment drawings, specifications, process documentation, and technical reports.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external equipment suppliers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in battery, semiconductor, display, electronics, automotive, or high-volume automated manufacturing industries.
  • Experience with ultrasonic welding, laser welding, resistance welding, sealing, cutting, punching, or precision assembly processes.
  • Experience with FAT, SAT, IQ, OQ, PQ, GR&R, capability studies, and production ramp-up.
  • Knowledge of PLC, HMI, MES, vision systems, robotics, servo motion, and automated material handling.
  • Experience with OEE improvement, cycle-time reduction, line balancing, capacity analysis, Lean manufacturing, or Six Sigma.
  • Experience working with global equipment suppliers or supporting international manufacturing projects.
  • Business-level English communication skills for technical coordination with global teams and suppliers.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
