The posting
Enva is seeking a hands-on Reactive Maintenance Engineer for its newly refurbished eWaste site in Stourbridge. The site will have a focused operation centred on Small Domestic Appliance (SDA) and SDA pre-pick processing. The role is responsible for keeping processing equipment safe, reliable and available, with a strong emphasis on effective reactive maintenance during the 4 on 4 off shift pattern, supported by planned preventive maintenance and continuous improvement activity
Key Responsibilities
- Provide responsive, safe and effective reactive maintenance support across the 4 on 4 off operational shift pattern, prioritising production-critical breakdowns and restoring equipment with minimal disruption.
- Maintain, fault-find and repair SDA and SDA pre-pick processing equipment, including conveyors, motors, bearings, gearboxes, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, pipework and associated plant.
- Complete planned preventive maintenance, inspections and servicing in line with the site maintenance schedule and operational priorities.
- Diagnose mechanical faults and undertake appropriate electrical fault-finding within competence, escalating specialist issues where required.
- Overhaul, adapt and improve existing machinery to increase reliability, safety, maintainability and processing performance.
- Carry out welding, fabrication and general engineering repairs as required and within competence.
- Support commissioning, snagging and optimisation of equipment within the newly refurbished site.
- Identify recurring faults, complete root-cause analysis and recommend practical corrective actions and continuous improvement opportunities.
- Ensure maintenance work is completed in accordance with site safety procedures, including isolation and lock-off requirements, permits to work and safe systems of work.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, breakdown reports, parts usage and handover information to a high standard.
- Monitor critical spares and notify the appropriate manager of replacement or stock requirements.
- Carry out basic facilities and site-services maintenance where required.
- Work closely with operations colleagues, contractors and other engineers, providing clear shift handovers and a flexible, first-time-right approach.
- Support other shifts or operational requirements where reasonably required, including planned shutdowns and urgent maintenance activity.
Working Pattern and Environment
- 4 on 4 off shift pattern, with working hours aligned to operational requirements.
- Reactive maintenance coverage is a core requirement of the role. Planned maintenance will be completed around production priorities and agreed shutdown windows.
- The role is site based within an operational eWaste processing facility and involves regular exposure to noise, dust, moving machinery and changing temperatures.
- Personal protective equipment will be provided and must be worn in line with site requirements.
- The role involves manual activity, accessing machinery and working in operational areas. Any specific requirements will be managed through appropriate risk assessment and reasonable workplace support.

- Good understanding of engineering safety, machinery isolation and safe maintenance practices.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and the ability to complete clear maintenance records.
- Flexible, team-oriented approach and willingness to work the required 4 on 4 off days and nights shift pattern.
