Join a Challenger

At EQ, we're remaking banking so every Canadian gets ahead, every day. Serving nearly 4 million Canadians from coast to coast, we offer a wide variety of financial services from banking and lending, to trust and credit union solutions.

We've been at this since 1970, challenging the conventions of traditional banking with smarter, faster, and more connected financial experiences.

What's kept us moving? The people behind it all: challengers who ask better questions, push back on old assumptions, and look for a better way forward.

If you're driven to help reshape how banking works for Canadians and the businesses that power our economy, this could be your next big opportunity.

We can’t wait to get to know you!

The Work

The AV & Event Production Engineer is responsible for end-to-end planning, preparation, technical delivery, and on-site coordination for the bank’s enterprise town halls, executive broadcasts, large meetings, and special events. The role combines hands-on audiovisual expertise with strong event production, presenter support, and audience engagement skills to deliver professional, reliable, and inclusive experiences.

Working closely with event owners, executives, speakers, Technology Workplace Services, Communications, Facilities, and external vendors, the engineer ensures that every event is rehearsed, technically validated, actively managed, and closed out with appropriate documentation and follow-up.

The Core Responsibilities!

  • Own town halls and complex meetings from initial intake through planning, rehearsal, live production, event close, and post-event review.
  • Gather event requirements, develop production plans and run-of-show documents, confirm room layouts, and coordinate technical and operational dependencies.
  • Prepare Microsoft Teams town halls, including event configuration, presenter and organizer readiness, content flow, audience participation features, recording requirements, and live-event support.
  • Conduct speaker and moderator rehearsals; provide practical coaching on microphone technique, pace, projection, voice pitch, camera presence, transitions, timing, and use of presentation content.
  • Operate and monitor video switchers, sound/mixing consoles, control systems, displays, cameras, microphones, presentation sources, confidence monitors, and related production equipment.
  • Configure, test, operate, and troubleshoot Planar video walls; Crestron control, video, and Teams Room components; Sennheiser ceiling microphones; and Shure handheld and lavalier wireless microphone systems.
  • Perform pre-event system checks covering audio levels, microphone frequencies and batteries, camera framing, display routing, presentation playback, network connectivity, lighting coordination, recording, and backup options.
  • Manage live event cues, speaker transitions, presentation playback, camera selection, audio mixing, mute control, timers, audience questions, and escalation of technical issues.
  • Support front-of-room facilitation and, when required, act as master of ceremonies or stage coordinator to introduce segments, maintain event flow, and hand microphones to speakers or audience members.
  • Create and manage digital cue cards, countdowns, speaker notes, stage prompts, holding slides, and other presenter aids as required.
  • Monitor the audience and room throughout each event, respond quickly to changes, and communicate clearly with event owners, speakers, technical teams, and vendors.
  • Provide technical support for meeting rooms and audiovisual systems, including Microsoft Teams Rooms and the Microsoft Teams Rooms Pro Management Portal.
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors for specialized production support, equipment maintenance, repairs, and event services while monitoring deliverables and service expectations.
  • Maintain event checklists, equipment inventories, operating procedures, troubleshooting guides, knowledge articles, diagrams, and event records.
  • Lead or participate in post-event reviews, capture lessons learned, and recommend improvements to event production standards, room technology, resiliency, and user experience.
  • Follow the bank’s change management, information security, privacy, accessibility, data protection, and technology operating standards.

Let's Talk About You!

  • Demonstrated end-to-end experience delivering enterprise town halls, executive events, live broadcasts, conferences, and complex hybrid meetings
  • Hands-on proficiency in Microsoft Teams town halls and Rooms; Planar, Crestron, Sennheiser, and Shure systems; production equipment and documentation
  • Demonstrated speaker coaching and stage facilitation experience
  • Ability to troubleshoot AV hardware, software, signal paths, network connectivity, and room-control systems quickly and while under pressure
  • Excellent interpersonal and English-language communication skills, including the discretion and professionalism required to support executives and high-profile events.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, calm decision-making under pressure, and the ability to manage concurrent priorities and last-minute changes.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams, event owners, and other business units including Communications, Facilities, IT teams, and external vendors.
  • Post-secondary education or certification in audiovisual technology, broadcast production, digital media, event production, or a related field is preferred.
  • AVIXA CTS, Microsoft Teams, Crestron, Shure, Sennheiser, Dante, or related industry certifications are considered assets.
  • Five or more years of relevant experience in audiovisual operations, live event production, broadcast, enterprise collaboration technology, or a comparable field is preferred.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
