We’re on a mission to transform an industry that’s been stuck in the past by empowering contractors and communities through innovative technology, real-time support, and a team that truly cares.

We’re hiring a Civil Superintendent at our Corporate Headquarters in Columbia, MO, and we’re looking for someone who’s ready to grow with us, bring energy and drive to their work, and help us build the future of construction.

The Civil Superintendent is a hands-on field leadership role responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing site development and construction activities including earthwork, excavation, grading, underground utilities, concrete, and paving preparation. This position will lead self-perform crews and subcontractors, coordinate project resources and schedules, perform survey and layout work, operate heavy equipment as needed, and ensure projects are completed safely, accurately, on schedule, and within budget.

Primary Responsibilities

  • lan and sequence daily field operations while developing and maintaining a rolling three-week lookahead for earthwork, utilities, concrete, paving, and related construction activities
  • Lead and supervise self-perform crews and subcontractors, establish daily priorities, coordinate manpower, and ensure work is completed safely and efficiently
  • Lead daily tailgate safety meetings and reinforce a strong culture of safety, accountability, and quality across project sites
  • Manage multiple phases of construction simultaneously, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within scope, and to quality expectations
  • Read, interpret, and execute work based on civil construction plans, grading plans, utility plans, project specifications, and construction documents
  • Coordinate daily activities with Project Managers, design teams, testing agencies, subcontractors, vendors, and other project stakeholders
  • Enforce OSHA requirements, including trench and excavation safety, and maintain compliance with SWPPP and erosion-control requirements
  • Estimate and order materials, schedule equipment and deliveries, track project expenses, and assist with management of project budgets
  • Identify field conflicts, RFIs, constructibility concerns, and changed conditions early and communicate issues to appropriate project stakeholders
  • Maintain accurate daily reports, progress photos, redlines, as-built information, and other required field documentation
  • Establish, verify, and maintain project control points and perform construction layout for building pads, curb lines, utilities, structures, offsets, cut/fill, and grade stakes
  • Operate survey and layout equipment including builders levels, GPS rovers, robotic total stations, and related field technology
  • Load and verify machine-control models and utilize GPS machine-control technology to support accurate excavation and grading activities
  • Check subgrade, aggregate base, and finish-grade elevations and ensure proper slopes, drainage, and project tolerances
  • Lead and perform excavation, site preparation, trenching, mass grading, and finish-grading activities
  • Operate heavy equipment including dozers, excavators, skid steers, loaders, rollers, and other equipment as needed to support project execution
  • Coordinate and oversee installation of storm, sanitary, and water utilities, including verification of line and grade, bedding, inverts, structures, and tie-ins
  • Perform and oversee concrete layout and preparation, including setting pins and stringlines, checking forms and rebar, and supporting concrete placement, finishing, jointing, and curing
  • Coordinate proof-rolls, fine grading, base preparation, drainage, and final site preparation prior to asphalt or concrete paving
  • Manage punch-list activities, final inspections, closeout documentation, and project turnover
  • Track manpower, equipment utilization, materials, project milestones, and daily production to ensure successful project completion
  • Other duties as assigned

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
