Why This Role Matters

At ERM, you won’t just support projects—you’ll help shape sustainable infrastructure solutions that power communities and protect the environment. This role offers the opportunity to deepen technical expertise while collaborating with industry leaders on renewable energy and electric transmission projects that truly matter.

What Your Impact Is

As a Consultant, Environmental Scientist, you will play a critical role in delivering environmental and sustainability solutions for clients across the energy sector. Working closely with Project Managers and senior consultants, you will help ensure projects meet regulatory requirements, advance environmental stewardship, and are delivered safely, efficiently, and with the highest quality standards.

What You’ll Bring

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, environmental studies, or a related science discipline, or equivalent experience (8+ years).
  • 2-3 years (5 years preferred) of relevant environmental consulting experience and/or professional internships.
  • Strong commitment to health and safety in both field and office environments.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document and interpret technical data.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets, databases, and data analysis tools.
  • Detail‑oriented mindset with strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently with minimal supervision, and adapt to changing project needs.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as project demands require.
  • Driver's License Required: This position requires a valid driver's license and/or the ability to operate a company vehicle due to the nature of job duties, which include frequent travel to various client locations across a large geographical area.
  • This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting environmental impact assessments and compliance programs in the energy sector.
  • Familiarity with wetlands, stormwater, NPDES, and wastewater permitting and reporting.
  • Local or regional knowledge of Minnesota and surrounding regulatory environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support on environmental impact assessments and sustainability‑related projects.
  • Prepare plans, permits, and reports related to wetlands, stormwater, NPDES, and wastewater programs.
  • Conduct environmental compliance assessments and support implementation of corrective actions to meet federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Perform fieldwork, including ecological field studies and site assessments.
  • Deliver general environmental compliance support, including on‑site client assistance as needed.
  • Compile, evaluate, and interpret environmental data; contribute to high‑quality technical report preparation.
  • Execute project tasks within scope, budget, and schedule expectations while meeting ERM’s quality standards.
  • Collaborate with Partners‑in‑Charge and Project Managers to deliver exceptional client value and project outcomes.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
