As part of our Digital Factory team, you'll work at the intersection of technology and innovation, helping to deliver cutting-edge solutions that transform businesses globally.This is your opportunity to take on a leadership-oriented technical role, guiding backend engineering practices while remaining hands-on in building secure, scalable, and reliable services that power EY's digital platforms.The OpportunityAs a Assistant Director - Backend Engineer, you will:• Lead the design and development of APIs, data access layers, and integrations.• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical decision-making.• Collaborate with Product, Architecture, Frontend, and Data teams to deliver high-quality solutions.• Drive best practices in coding, security, and observability across the team.What We're Looking For• Agility and Growth Mindset: Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced environment.• Technical Leadership: Experience guiding teams and influencing architecture decisions.• Collaboration and Inclusivity: Building trust and fostering diverse perspectives.Qualifications• 9+ years of professional experience in backend development, with at least 3 years in a leadership or mentoring capacity.• Expertise in building backend services and APIs using .NET/C# or Python.• Strong knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MongoDB).• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and code reviews.• Working knowledge of Azure Cloud, containerization (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes).• Familiarity with messaging and event streaming (Kafka, RabbitMQ, Azure Service Bus).• Solid understanding of security fundamentals and observability practices.• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.• Fluency in English. Any additional language(s) are highly appreciated.
