The posting

Join a team where your technical expertise makes a real difference

At ETEL, we’re proud to be New Zealand’s leading manufacturer of distribution transformers. For over 70 years, we’ve been designing and building products that keep communities, businesses and essential services connected to power. Our success is built on the expertise of our people, our commitment to quality, and a culture where continuous improvement is part of everyday work.

We’re looking for an Assets Technician to join our Auckland team. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys solving problems, maintaining equipment and finding practical ways to improve reliability and performance.

You’ll help ensure our plant, equipment and facilities operate safely and effectively by carrying out maintenance, responding to breakdowns and supporting asset improvements and capital projects. Your contribution will help minimise downtime and keep production running smoothly.

What you’ll be responsible for:

  • Carrying out preventative and corrective maintenance across plant and equipment.
  • Diagnosing faults and resolving maintenance issues to minimise downtime.
  • Responding to breakdowns and prioritising work in line with production needs.
  • Completing maintenance work orders and keeping system records up to date.
  • Supporting asset improvements and capital projects, including fabrication, installation and testing.
  • Maintaining tools, equipment and workshop areas in a safe and organised condition.
  • Supporting maintenance planning, spare parts management and contractor coordination.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve asset reliability, safety and efficiency.
  • Following all health, safety, quality and environmental requirements.

What we’re looking for:

You may already be working in maintenance, engineering, mechanical services or another hands-on technical environment. Most importantly, you’ll bring practical capability, a safety-first approach and the initiative to identify and resolve problems.

Ideally, you’ll have:

  • Experience in a maintenance, mechanical or technical role within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • The ability to diagnose faults and carry out equipment maintenance and repairs.
  • Practical hands-on experience with tools, machinery and equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively across different teams.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • Basic computer literacy and familiarity with maintenance systems or work-order software.

A trade qualification or technical certification would be an advantage, along with experience in fabrication, welding, mechanical assembly, equipment installation or capital projects. Relevant safety certifications, such as working at height, forklift or permit-to-work training, would also be beneficial.

Why ETEL?

When you join ETEL, you’re joining a business that values technical expertise, practical problem-solving and teamwork. We offer:

  • Competitive remuneration.
  • Free onsite parking.
  • A convenient West Auckland location.
  • A supportive, safety-focused team environment.
  • The opportunity to contribute directly to equipment reliability, operational improvement and production success.

If you’re a practical problem-solver who takes pride in keeping equipment running safely and reliably, we’d love to hear from you.

Apply now and help us maintain and improve the assets that keep ETEL moving.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

What if my background isn't good enough?

We make the most of the background you have. The CV uses every piece of relevant proof your profile holds, and one of the 25 readers reads your whole profile and flags what the CV left out.

Do you really apply for me?

Yes, on the employer's own form, the hardest ones included. Where a question needs you, you answer it right there and AI suggests the best answer. Don't want us applying from our IP addresses? Use our Chrome extension: we apply straight from your own browser.

Is it a subscription?
