About the Job

This is a full-time, Dublin-based hybrid role, with three days per week in the office. As Senior Project Engineer – Structural, you will lead coordinated structural engineering delivery across substantial or complex project packages. This is an engineering management and delivery leadership role: you will lead projects, manage client and architect relationships, attend meetings and carry out design calculations, while remaining accountable for technical outcomes, programme commitments, quality and effective delivery through others within an agreed project scope. The role supports a portfolio of complex buildings and infrastructure projects, including data centres.

Reporting to senior management, you will lead complex packages and coordinated workstreams involving multiple contributors, with a direct effect on delivery quality, programme, technical risk and team performance. You will make material technical and delivery decisions within delegated authority, escalating strategic or commercial commitments, while building team capability, improving methods and supporting reliable delivery across projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead planning and delivery of complex structural design packages across 2–3 projects at once, coordinating priorities, resources and interfaces with other disciplines.
  • Direct and review work undertaken by engineers and technicians, ensuring appropriate checking, technical quality and timely issue of deliverables.
  • Use structural analysis and design software (SCIA Engineer and CADS preferred, or equivalent) and collaborate with design teams, ensuring projects are completed on time, on budget and to the highest standards.
  • Resolve complex design and coordination challenges, exercise independent technical judgement within delegated authority and escalate material risks or decisions.
  • Manage delivery against agreed scope, programme and quality expectations, identifying emerging changes and supporting commercial awareness and change control.
  • Manage client and architect relationships and engage with design partners and project stakeholders on technical and delivery matters, attending meetings, presenting updates and deliverables and communicating decisions and actions clearly.
  • Report on project progress to management.
  • Carry out site visits across Europe to monitor works for progress and quality.
  • Coach developing engineers, share good practice and contribute to consistent technical and digital delivery standards.
  • Champion safe design, regulatory compliance and robust quality assurance processes.

About You

  • A Chartered structural engineer with substantial design-delivery experience and strong skills in calculations and structural analysis, ready to lead coordinated delivery across complex project packages.
  • An accountable delivery lead who exercises independent judgement, manages technical risk and delivers through others.
  • A confident communicator who manages client and architect relationships, engages design partners and stakeholders and supports the development of engineers and technicians.
  • Based in Dublin and able to work in the office three days per week, or willing to relocate to Dublin.
  • Holds unrestricted travel rights within the Schengen area.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or equivalent relevant professional qualification.
  • Chartered Engineer status (IStructE, Engineers Ireland, ICE or equivalent) is required.
  • At least 7 years’ experience in Structural Engineering.
  • Irish or UK project experience, with knowledge of local standards and practices.
  • Demonstrated accountability for coordinating and delivering complex design packages, including work delivered through others.
  • Experience guiding engineers or technicians, planning work and resolving delivery constraints.
  • Experience on data centre projects is a plus; experience on complex buildings or infrastructure projects is an acceptable alternative.

Technical Skills

  • Strong skills in calculations and structural analysis.
  • Good overall knowledge of structural engineering, including concrete, steel, precast, geotechnical and seismic design.
  • Strong working knowledge of applicable design codes, quality assurance and multidisciplinary coordination.
  • Management of technical risk.
  • Knowledge of Eurocodes and their European national annexes, including seismic design (EN 1998), is advantageous.
  • Essential software: Structural analysis and design software: SCIA Engineer and CADS preferred, or equivalent (e.g. Tekla Structural Designer, Robot, RFEM); Bluebeam Revu (drawing reviews and markups); Microsoft 365.
  • Desirable software: AutoCAD, Revit or Navisworks (model coordination).

Soft Skills

  • Independent judgement.
  • Excellent problem-solving and project management skills.
  • Effective client and project communication, and team management abilities.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
