About eToro

eToro is the world's leading social trading network, providing millions of users across the globe with a one-stop solution for their trading and investing needs. Since 2007, eToro has positioned itself as a fintech leader, pioneering social trading and machine-learning-powered investment products. In Australia, eToro operates several regulated entities, including eToro AUS Capital Limited and eToro Asset Management Limited, which hold Australian Financial Services Licences (AFSLs) under ASIC oversight. The Australian business also includes Spaceship Super, a digitally driven superannuation offering designed to make retirement investing simple and accessible for members, with member assets held under an external trustee arrangement.

About the Role

The Risk and Compliance Manager reports to the Head of Risk and Compliance (HRC) and is responsible for assisting across risk and compliance matters across eToro’s Australian entities, including AFSL obligations and, where relevant, the Spaceship Super offering. The team covers product disclosure, marketing compliance, complaints handling, risk and control reviews, staff training, and special projects including new product development, data analysis, auditing, and remediation plan development for control failures.

This is a hands-on advisory role suited to a risk and compliance professional with deep financial services regulatory knowledge, strong stakeholder communication skills, and the appetite to work in a fast-moving, innovation-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategy: Determine, agree, and execute elements of the compliance strategy for eToro Australia in conjunction with the HRC
  • Regulatory Engagement: Support the HRC in managing regulatory relationships with ASIC, APRA (where applicable), AUSTRAC, the Privacy Commissioner, and the ATO
  • AFCA: Develop and maintain the AFCA relationship, acting as eToro's primary representative on all AFCA-related matters
  • Framework: Enhance and improve the risk and compliance management framework by partnering with the Executive Team to achieve operational compliance
  • Oversight: Provide second-line oversight, challenge, and reporting on the adequacy of the compliance framework, obligations register, and compliance plans, including for Boards and Committees
  • Compliance Plan: Assist with compliance plan monitoring activities and associated follow-up reviews across the Australian entities
  • Risk: Support risk identification, monitoring, incident management, and control reviews across the Australian entities, in line with the group risk management framework
  • Trustee Engagement: Support the relationship with Spaceship Super’s external trustee to enable effective governance and regulatory oversight of the superannuation offering
  • Training: Develop and conduct targeted risk and compliance training programs across the Australian business
  • Projects: Support special projects including new product launches, data analysis, compliance audits, and remediation planning

Requirements

About You

  • Tertiary qualification in Finance, Law, Risk Management, or a related discipline
  • Minimum 7 years of risk and compliance experience in Australian financial services, with at least 3 years at Manager level or equivalent
  • Extensive knowledge of ASIC regulations and AFSL obligations, including relevant Regulatory Guides
  • Experience managing or supporting regulatory relationships (ASIC, AUSTRAC, AFCA)
  • AML/CTF compliance experience, including familiarity with AUSTRAC reporting obligations
  • Demonstrated ability to provide second-line oversight and produce board-quality reporting
  • Open to creative solutions and business innovation; genuine team player
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable engaging with senior management and regulators

Desirable

  • Experience in a fintech, retail broker, or payments environment
  • Familiarity with DDO (Design and Distribution Obligations) compliance
  • Exposure to crypto asset compliance and ASIC's evolving digital asset regulatory framework
  • RG 146 certification
  • Exposure to superannuation regulation (including APRA prudential standards and the SIS Act) and external trustee operating models

Perks and benefits

  • Competitive salary
  • Flexibility – 2 days per week working from home
  • Health and wellness benefits
  • Professional development opportunities including financial services training and accreditations
  • Exposure to product development – your feedback directly influences how we build for members
  • Be part of a growing fintech company with global reach (eToro ecosystem) and local focus
  • Access to AI tools, training, and a culture that actively encourages experimenting with new technology

Location and logistics

Sydney office-based with hybrid flexibility (2 days remote per week). We're located in the CBD and easy to access via public transport. Full working rights in Australia required.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
