The Role

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Booking Engine organization. You will own the technical direction of systems at the core of our product - pricing, availability and booking flows that serve millions of requests per day. Beyond writing code, you will set architectural direction, unblock others, and represent the team's technical position to product and to peer engineering groups.

This role suits someone who is a natural problem solver, detail-oriented, and comfortable moving between deep individual contribution and technical leadership in a fast-paced environment.

This is a senior individual contributor role with technical leadership scope. We do not have a separate formal tech lead title.

Responsibilities

  • Set and drive the technical direction for one or more Booking Engine services - make architecture decisions, document the trade-offs, and act as the technical point of contact in planning, prioritization and dependency discussions
  • Design, write, review, test and support C#/.NET code for reliable, high-quality systems at scale serving millions of requests per day
  • Break large initiatives into deliverable increments - design solutions, get them reviewed, create stories, deliver and maintain
  • Own latency, availability and cost characteristics of your services, and keep them within the reliability targets the organization sets
  • Maintain and evolve our gRPC-based API 2.0 alongside the .NET services it fronts, keeping the two in step as the API surface changes
  • Proactively identify technology opportunities for the company, and push technical ideas, proposals and plans to the entire organization
  • Work cross-functionally with product managers, client integration teams and other engineering groups to deliver high-quality products and improve internal KPIs
  • Coordinate and monitor regular releases to production
  • Participate in the on-call support rotation, lead the team through incidents impacting live systems, and drive follow-up actions to completion
  • Raise the engineering bar, mentor engineers through interactive code review, design review and knowledge-sharing sessions, and help the team make good use of AI-assisted development tooling

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or related technical field experience
  • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with C# and .NET, including production work on .NET Core / .NET 8+
  • Strong command of the .NET runtime under load, including performance trade-offs, caching, profiling and benchmarking
  • Strong software design and architecture skills - CS fundamentals, object-oriented analysis and design patterns, and large-scale distributed systems
  • Hands-on experience with Claude Code or equivalent AI coding assistants in production work, with sound judgement about when to rely on them and how to review what they produce
  • Proven track record of designing and architecting scalable, high-availability distributed systems serving internet traffic direct to consumers or businesses at scale
  • Demonstrated technical leadership, having led the design and delivery of a significant system across multiple engineers and grown the engineers around you
  • Experience owning production services on call, including leading incident response
  • Ability to clearly and concisely communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders across all levels of the organization

Additional Experience That Would Be Considered An Asset

  • Experience designing and publishing client SDKs or public-facing APIs consumed by external partners
  • Experience with hybrid Google Cloud Platform or other cloud providers and cloud-native architecture alongside local data centre deployments
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes and CI/CD tooling
  • Experience with monitoring dashboards (Grafana), alerting, logging, and PCI-related work
  • Experience with gRPC and protobuf-based service contracts
  • Experience with event-driven and asynchronous architectures, including message brokers and delivery guarantees
  • Experience in the flight booking domain

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
