Esculaap Maastricht UMC+ A(N)IOS / Promovendus Longziekten. Maastricht UMC+ · Maastricht Wat ga je doen? Wij zijn op zoek naar een kandidaat die de opleiding tot longarts wilt combineren met een promotietraject gericht op de thymus. Het Maastricht Universitair Medisch Centrum (MUMC+) is een landelijk expertisecentrum voor de diagnostiek, behandeling en follow-up van patiënten met thymus-gerelateerde aandoeningen (thymustumoren en myasthenia gravis). Het thymusteam van het MUMC+ werkt nauw samen met het thymus-onderzoeksteam van de Universiteit Maastricht (UM). Daarnaast staat het thymusteam van het MUMC+/UM internationaal in de belangstelling en zijn er veel Nederlandse, Europese en wereldwijde samenwerkingen. Het multidisciplinaire promotietraject richt zich op patiënten die een robot-thymectomie ondergaan. Een aantal doelen van het promotietraject zijn: (1) het effect van een robot-thymectomie op lange termijn in kaart brengen bij patiënten met myasthenia gravis en/of een thymustumor, (2) te achterhalen waarom sommige myasthenie-patiënten refractair zijn aan de huidige behandeling met immuunsuppressiva, en (3) hoe de huidige klinische zorg verbeterd kan worden door de behandeling van patiënten meer op maat te maken. Het team stimuleert eigen inbreng van de promovendus in het promotietraject. Tijdens het promotieonderzoek heeft de promovendus (poli)klinisch contact met de bovengenoemde patiëntpopulaties en kan ervaring worden opgedaan in het laboratorium. De promovendus is nauw verbonden met de afdelingen Longziekten, Cardio Thoracale Chirurgie, Pathologie, Radiologie, Radiotherapie, Neurologie van het MUMC+, en de afdeling Psychiatrie/Neuropsychologie van de researchschool Mental Health & Neuroscience (MHeNS) van de Universiteit Maastricht.
