Het gaat om een 3-jarig technologie partnerschap. De twee bedrijven bundelen hun kennis waar het gaat om het optimaliseren en produceren van spoilers, eindonderdelen voor de F1 racewagens van het Alfa Romeo F1 team Orlen en voor tooling voor in de productie. Dit jaar nog installeert Sauber een EOS P 500 systeem, het industriële printsysteem voor kunststof onderdelen. Het systeem is van zichzelf al gericht op serieproductie, onder andere doordat het poeder vlak voor het smelten op een ideale verwerkingstemperatuur wordt gebracht. Hierdoor nemen de belichtingstijd en het de tijd voor het recoaten af. Doordat de machine geautomatiseerd kan worden, kan men de productie verder opvoeren. In eerste instantie gaan de Zwitsers, die al over een uitgebreid 3D printerpark beschikken, aan de slag met PA 2200, een Nylon 12 materiaal. Nieuwe benchmark voor serieproductie met AM EOS P 500 Hogere productiviteit en lagere stukskosten Automatisering is een van de redenen waarom EOS drie jaar lang wil samenwerken met Sauber Technologies. Markus Glasser, Vice President EMEA bij EOS , gaat automatisering in de F1 wereld een belangrijke rol spelen nu er alsmaar meer seriematige toepassingen van additive manufacturing komen. Daarmee wil de race industrie de productiviteit verhogen en de stukskosten van de 3D geprinte onderdelen verlagen.
