Ambulanceverpleegkundige Wat doet een ambulanceverpleegkundige? Bij een acute zorgvraag is de ambulanceverpleegkundige (AVP) vaak de eerste zorgprofessional ter plaatse. Vaak is de plaats van het ongeval paniekerig, stressvol en emotioneel. Een ambulanceverpleegkundige moet in staat zijn om hier snel en adequaat te reageren en volgens protocol te handelen. De ambulanceverpleegkundige heeft samen met de ambulancechauffeur (ACH) een cruciale rol bij spoedeisende hulp. Werken als ambulanceverpleegkundige Werkzaamheden van een ambulanceverpleegkundige Jouw hoofdtaken bestaan uit het verzorgen van de patiënt, het nemen van medische beslissingen en het gereed maken van vervoer. Soms wordt een patiënt niet meegenomen, dan is een behandeling ter plaatse voldoende. Tijdens je werk als ambulanceverpleegkundige draait alles om de patiënt. Jouw taak is ervoor zorgen dat de situatie van de patiënt stabiel blijft en niet verslechterd. Hiervoor voer je verschillende handelingen uit. Zo leg je bijvoorbeeld verbanden aan, sluit je beademingsapparatuur aan, dien je medicijnen toe, geef je injecties of reanimeer je een patiënt. Daarnaast vraag je aan de patiënt wat er gebeurd is, zodat je een beeld kan schetsen van de gehele situatie. Je wordt hierbij ondersteund door de ambulancechauffeur en werkt nauw samen met de centralist. Competenties van een ambulanceverpleegkundige Je bent in het bezit van diploma verpleegkunde A of hbo-v en een geldige BIG-registratie. Je hebt tevens een rijbewijs B. Daarnaast kun jij improviseren waar nodig, goed samenwerken en communiceren met jouw collega's én patiënten. Verder is het belangrijk dat je sterk in je schoenen staat, want je weet nooit wat je aantreft.
