Het zijn ambulanceritten waarbij de patiënt op klantvriendelijke en verantwoorde wijze wordt begeleid van of naar een zorginstelling, zowel lokaal als interlokaal. Hoe uiteenlopend de ziektebeelden ook zijn, je weet de situatie goed te beoordelen en onderkent op professionele wijze de zorgvraag. Je levert zorg op maat en verricht je verpleegkundige handelingen binnen de kaders van het landelijk protocol zorgambulancezorg en landelijk kwaliteitskader laag/midden complexe zorg. Als verpleegkundige zorg je ervoor dat de patiënt begeleid wordt naar de plek van bestemming. Hierbij controleer en bewaak je de lichaamsfuncties, waarbij doormiddel van de Early Warning Score een inschatting wordt gemaakt van de conditie van de patiënt. Je houdt je patiënt constant in het vizier. Daarbij communiceer je continu met de patiënt en werk je nauw samen met de ambulancechauffeur en de andere partners in de keten van zorg. Zo geef je tijdens de rit informatie aan de patiënt over de behandeling, geef je aanwijzingen aan de ambulancechauffeur, registreer je patiëntgegevens en draag je deze informatie vervolgens over aan de ketenpartners.
