De vakgroep Medische Microbiologie werkt in Tergooi MC vanuit het MSB Gooi en Eemland en levert medisch microbiologische zorg voor medisch specialisten, huisartsen, verloskundigen, verpleeghuizen, GGD en andere instellingen in de regio. Tergooi MC is een opleidingsziekenhuis met 12 medisch specialistische opleidingen, diverse andere specialistische vervolgopleidingen en stages voor huisartsen in opleiding. Er werken meer dan 200 medisch specialisten en circa 2.500 medewerkers. Tergooi MC heeft in 2023 een nieuw ziekenhuis betrokken op de locatie Hilversum; het medisch microbiologisch laboratorium is in januari 2025 verhuisd naar het nieuwe ziekenhuis waar we nauw samenwerken met de klinische chemie. De werkzaamheden voor de medische microbiologie worden uitgevoerd op het Centraal Bacteriologisch en Serologisch Laboratorium (CBSL) als onderdeel van Tergooi MC. Er werken vier artsen-microbioloog, een medisch moleculair microbioloog en in totaal ruim 40 medewerkers in een dynamische, innovatieve en ondernemende organisatie. Op het CBSL wordt een compleet diagnostisch pakket aan medische microbiologie uitgevoerd, met alle daarbij passende state-of-the-art apparatuur en informatietechnologische ondersteuning.
