The posting

Brandweerzone Oost-Limburg is één van de drie hulpverleningszones in Limburg. Vanuit 8 brandweerposten staan we dag en nacht klaar voor meer dan 320.000 inwoners in 13 gemeenten. Onze zone telt ruim 425 beroeps- en vrijwillige brandweerlieden, een 75-tal ambulanciers en verpleegkundigen en een 20-tal ondersteunende medewerkers.

Wat ga je doen?

Als brandweervrijwilliger zet je je naast je vaste job of studie in om hulp te verlenen bij (dringende) noodsituaties. Je blust niet alleen branden, maar staat paraat voor alle mensen en dieren in nood. Zo kan je ingezet worden bij wateroverlast, verkeersongevallen, bevrijding van personen, gaslekken, stormschade, milieuvervuiling of het verdelgen van wespennesten. Elke opdracht is anders. En dat doe je nooit alleen: je maakt deel uit van een sterk team en werkt onder leiding van hiërarchisch meerderen.

Naast de interventies, zorg je mee voor het onderhoud van de kazerne en het materiaal. Je oefent voldoende en regelmatig zodat je kennis en skills up-to-date blijven. Onder leiding van je postoverste draag je bij aan de goede werking en de verdere ontwikkeling van de dienst. Ook voer je zelfstandig kleinere opdrachten uit, waar je schriftelijk verslag over uitbrengt.

Wie we zoeken

We zoeken gemotiveerde collega’s die flexibel inzetbaar zijn, kalm blijven in stressvolle situaties, bereid zijn om continu bij te leren en vlot samenwerken met anderen. Je hebt een groot hart voor mensen, maar ook de technische vaardigheden en de praktische ingesteldheid die nodig zijn in ons vak.

Je engagement is groot: we verwachten dat je minstens 25% per kalenderjaar operationeel beschikbaar bent. Daarnaast woon je binnen een straal van 4 km of op maximum 8 minuten rijafstand van de brandweerpost.

Voorwaarden

  1. Je bent ten minste 18 jaar oud;
  2. Je bent Belg of burger van een land dat tot de EER behoort of van Zwitserland;
  3. Je gedrag is in overeenstemming met de eisen van de functie – hiervoor bezorg je een uittreksel uit het strafregister;
  4. Je geniet je burgerlijke en politieke rechten;
  5. Je bent in orde met de dienstwetplichten;
  6. Je bent houder van een rijbewijs B;
  7. Je hebt een Federaal Geschiktheidsattest (FGA) – ben je al actief als brandweerman (m/v/x) in een andere hulpverleningszone, dan volstaat een tewerkstellingsattest. Opgelet: aan deze voorwaarde moet voldaan zijn op datum van de eerste proef.
