Er breekt brand uit in een bedrijfspand. Of een flinke storm zorgt voor schade aan een gebouw. Dan moet er snel iemand naartoe. Als calamiteiten medewerker in IJsselstein ben jij een van de mensen die in actie komt. Je stapt samen met je collega's de bus in en gaat naar de schadelocatie. Daar kijk je wat er moet gebeuren en ga je aan de slag. Water wegzuigen, beschadigde materialen verwijderen, ruimtes reinigen, spullen veiligstellen of een pand leeghalen: je doet wat nodig is om verdere schade te beperken en ruimte te maken voor herstel. Je weet 's ochtends waar je begint, maar niet altijd waar je eindigt. Je komt in woningen, bedrijfspanden en op plekken waar kort daarvoor nog brand, een flinke lekkage of stormschade is geweest. Soms is een klus binnen een paar uur geklaard, een andere keer ben je met een heel team bezig om een grote schade aan te pakken. Jouw werkdag Om 07.00 uur start je vanuit onze vestiging in IJsselstein. Je bespreekt met je collega's wat er op de planning staat, pakt het materieel dat je nodig hebt en zorgt dat alles in de bus zit. Daarna: op pad. Je eerste klus is bijvoorbeeld een woning waar een flinke lekkage is geweest. De vloer staat nog blank en spullen moeten snel uit de ruimte. Jullie zuigen het water weg, brengen de inboedel in veiligheid en verwijderen materialen die niet meer te redden zijn. Terug naar IJsselstein? Misschien. Maar het kan ook zomaar zijn dat er ondertussen een nieuwe melding binnenkomt. Bijvoorbeeld een brand waarbij rook en roet zich door een pand hebben verspreid.
