Vaste routes, goed onderhouden materieel en klanten die je na een paar weken bij naam kent. Over het werk De kraan maakt dit werk. Je levert bouwmaterialen af op bouwplaatsen, bij magazijnen en bij groothandels, en op de meeste adressen zet je niet simpelweg een pallet op de stoep. Je zoekt je opstelplek, stempelt uit waar de ruimte krap is en legt de lading neer waar de klant hem hebben wil, soms op hoogte. In één keer goed, zonder dat er achteraf iemand aan te pas hoeft te komen. Je begint om zes uur 's ochtends met een wagen die al voor je klaarstaat en rijdt vaste routes in de regio Amsterdam. Af en toe ga je verder het land in. De roosters liggen vast en de planning is realistisch, dus je bent op tijd klaar en 's avonds gewoon thuis. Onderweg ben je zelfstandig, met korte lijnen naar de planning als er iets schuurt. Op locatie ben jij het gezicht van het bedrijf.
