Je controleert, onderhoudt, repareert, modificeert en test onder meer reddingsvlotten, zwemvesten, duikpakken en ontsnappingsmiddelen. Daarnaast bewaak je de kwaliteit van het werk en begeleid je collega's bij technische werkzaamheden. Jouw vakmanschap heeft rechtstreeks invloed op de veiligheid van mensen aan boord van marineschepen. Juist wanneer een reddingsmiddel nodig is, moet het zonder twijfel functioneren. Je werkt zelfstandig aan verschillende reddings- en overlevingsmiddelen van de Koninklijke Marine. Je voert onderhoud en inspecties uit volgens technische handleidingen, normen en veiligheidsvoorschriften en beoordeelt of uitgevoerde werkzaamheden aan de gestelde eisen voldoen. Naast je eigen technische werkzaamheden instrueer en begeleid je collega's, bijvoorbeeld tijdens modificaties of wanneer technische problemen ontstaan.
