Er gaat dus veel goed maar er komen ook grote uitdagingen op ons af. Een positief kritische blik op de (ruimtelijke) kwaliteit van de plannen die we samen maken, is daarbij onontbeerlijk. De afgelopen decennia is er veel geïnvesteerd in onze gemeente. Als belangrijke opdrachtgever zijn we trots op het Forum, de herinrichting van de Grote Markt en de gratis fietsenstallingen. Momenteel werken we aan stevige opgaves zoals het stationsgebied, Suikerzijde en het muziekcentrum. Gebiedsontwikkelingen gaan gepaard met veel nieuwe woningen die de stad verder verdichten. Een 15-minuten stad zijn we al. De opgave zit vooral in het behouden van die vanzelfsprekende nabijheid in de groei die voor ons ligt. Als veelzijdige stedenbouwkundige, weet je waar het over gaat bij mobiliteit, leefkwaliteit, openbare ruimte, groen en klimaat. De directie Stadsontwikkeling waarbinnen de afdeling Ontwerp valt is bezig om steeds meer opgaven gebiedsgericht aan te pakken. Dit betekent dat er kaders en strategieën gemaakt worden om samenhangende gebieden te ontwikkelen met een belangrijke rol voor de kwaliteit voor de woonomgeving, maar ook voorzieningen, onderwijs, recreatie en...
