Een gedragskundige is gespecialiseerd in het behandelen van mensen die te maken hebben met gedragsproblemen. Bij Philadelphia zijn dit mensen die ook een verstandelijk beperking hebben. Vanuit jouw deskundigheid heb je een belangrijk aandeel in de professionele ontwikkeling van het zorgbeleid en draag je bij aan innovatieve zorgoplossingen. Je richt je hierbij op het welbevinden van de cliënten. Je richt je daarom op (evidenced based) diagnostiek en behandeling en geeft daarbij advies aan begeleiders en verwanten. Je voert psychologisch en orthopedagogisch onderzoek uit en je behandelt daarbij zelf ook cliënten. Samenwerken Als gedragsdeskundige breng je in kaart welke ondersteuningsvragen cliënten hebben. Samen met de cliënt, de begeleiders en eventueel de ouders ga je op zoek naar het antwoord. Zodat de situatie voor de cliënt verbetert. Het werk van een gedragsdeskundige bestaat uit diagnostisch onderzoek, observatie en advies. Je levert ook bijdrage aan het begeleidings- en/of behandelplan. Behalve met de begeleiders en andere mensen uit de omgeving van de cliënt werk je ook samen met logopedisten, fysio- en ergotherapeuten, diëtisten, spel- en muziektherapeuten, bewegingsagogen en je collega-gedragsdeskundigen. Bij Philadelphia hebben we deze disciplines allemaal in huis, in ons Expertisecentrum. Doordat je met verschillende doelgroepen werkt, kent je werk verschillende benaderingen en uitdagingen. Iemand met een ernstige meervoudige beperking (EMB) benader je anders dan iemand met een lichte verstandelijk beperking (LVB). Competenties Als gedragsdeskundige moet je stevig in je schoenen staan. Sommige mensen zijn bereid te veranderen, maar niet iedereen werkt graag mee. Je moet dus goed kunnen luisteren, anticiperen, motiveren en overtuigen. Het is belangrijk dat je stressbestendig bent, sensitief en dat je conflicten kunt beheersen.
