Als gezondheidszorgpsycholoog ben je, volgens artikel 3 wet BIG, een generalistische professional die zelfstandig werkt in een van de sectoren van de gezondheidszorg en die optreedt als behandelaar van psychische problemen, o.a. bij problemen in de persoonlijke levenssfeer, lichamelijke ziekten of invaliditeit. Je bent bij uitstek een generalist, net als de arts. Je krijgt een brede kennis van het hele veld van psychische problemen. Daardoor kan je accurate psychodiagnostiek doen, gericht indiceren en doelmatig behandelen of verwijzen. De opleiding De GZ-opleiding is een 2 jaar durende studie waarbij de psycholoog in de praktijk werkt en een dag in de week scholing krijgt. Momenteel is er een GZ-opleiding met het accent kinderen/jeugdigen en een opleiding met het accent volwassenen/ouderen. In de opleiding doe je bij voorkeur ervaring op in minimaal twee behandelsettingen. Opleidingsplaatsen zijn gesitueerd binnen de stichting Jeugd, de basis GGZ, de specialistische GGZ (Angst & Stemming, Ontwikkelingsstoornissen, Ouderen, Langdurige zorg, generalistische regioteams) en de forensische psychiatrie. De Dimence Groep kenmerkt zich door een goed opleidingsklimaat. De diversiteit aan behandelsettingen biedt uitgebreide leermogelijkheden.
