Als inspecteur ben jij de vraagbaak van het Havenbedrijf Rotterdam aan boord van schepen en bij reders. Jij hebt zicht op gevaarlijke en schadelijke ladingstromen en weet, onder andere door data-analyse van in- en externe bronnen, waar de aandacht in de haven op gericht dient te worden. Wat ga je doen? Inspecties op zeeschepen maar ook digitale inspecties, dat is de ontwikkeling waar het team Scheeps- en Milieuveiligheid voor staat. 'On the job' leer jij het werk en draag jij bij aan de verandering van de werkwijze. Je leert van jouw ervaren collega's het inspecteren van zeeschepen, haventerminals en bemanningen afkomstig uit de gehele wereld. Op basis van allerlei technische data uit diverse databases, waaronder EU-thetis en eigen ervaring en analyses wordt bepaald waar en bij wie inspecties plaatsvinden. Tijdens een inspectie let jij onder andere op de naleving van MARPOL-voorschriften en veiligheid met betrekking tot de lading. Hierbij toets je of de regels worden nageleefd. Jouw inspectieresultaten leg je helder vast in systemen en inspectierapporten. Jij maakt makkelijk contact zowel met kapiteins en reders als de deckhand die op zaterdagnacht in de haven aan het werk is. Naast de inspecties voer je met enige regelmaat opsporingsacties uit.
