Installatietechnici vinden werk in diverse infrastructuurprojecten, van wegenbouw en spoorwegen tot tunnels en bruggen. Je installeert en onderhoudt systemen voor elektriciteit, verwarming, koeling en meet- en regeltechniek. Deze projecten bieden uitdagende werkzaamheden met veel afwisseling en goede doorgroeimogelijkheden. Infrastructuurwerk verschilt van andere projecten door de grote schaal en complexiteit van de systemen. Wat voor soorten infrastructuurwerk doen installatietechnici? Installatietechnici werken aan wegenbouw, spoorwegprojecten, tunnels, bruggen en openbare voorzieningen. Bij wegenbouw installeer je verlichtingssystemen, verkeerslichten en cameranetwerken. Spoorwegprojecten vragen om bovenleidingen, seininstallaties en perronverlichting. Tunnelprojecten hebben complexe ventilatie-, brandbeveiligings- en verlichtingssystemen nodig. Bij bruggen werk je aan hefmechanismen, verlichting en waarschuwingssystemen. Openbare voorzieningen zoals rioolwaterzuiveringsinstallaties en pompstations hebben gespecialiseerde installaties voor procesbeheersing en monitoring.
