Over de Martin Luther Kingschool

De Martin Luther Kingschool is een openbare basisschool in Haarlem-Oost, waar kinderen van over de hele wereld samenkomen. Deze culturele rijkdom verrijkt onze leeromgeving en draagt bij aan de brede ontwikkeling van ieder kind op zijn of haar eigen niveau.

In de middenbouw bouwen leerlingen verder aan een stevige basis. Ze ontwikkelen hun taal-, lees- en rekenvaardigheden, ontdekken steeds meer waar hun talenten liggen en leren stap voor stap zelfstandiger te werken en verantwoordelijkheid te nemen voor hun eigen leerproces. Bijzonder aan onze school zijn de maatgroepen. Deze groepen vinden hun oorsprong in het speciaal basisonderwijs en zijn onderdeel van onze reguliere basisschool. In de maatgroepen krijgen leerlingen met een specifieke onderwijsbehoefte onderwijs op maat in een gestructureerde en veilige omgeving.

Wij streven naar een onderwijsomgeving waarin kinderen met plezier leren, zichzelf ontwikkelen en verantwoordelijkheid nemen. Onze kernwaarden zijn:
