Klinkt mainframe voor jou als iets uit een ver verleden? In werkelijkheid is mainframe relevanter dan ooit. Het is het kloppend hart van de systemen die ontelbare transacties mogelijk maken voor onze bank- en verzekeringsactiviteiten, elke dag opnieuw.

Als Mainframe Software Engineer verdiep je je in een complexe wereld van bedrijfskritische applicaties die een uptime vragen van tegen de 100% – iets wat enkel met het mainframe mogelijk is. Je schrijft robuuste code, stelt kwaliteit voorop en draagt bij tot de stabiliteit van systemen waar duizenden klanten op rekenen.

Op vandaag evolueert het mainframe door modernisering, automatisering en aansluiting op hedendaagse DevOps‑werkwijzen. In deze rol maak jij die evolutie mee vanop de eerste rij. Je maakt deel uit van een divers team waarin samenwerken, leren en kennis delen centraal staan in een technisch domein met een verzekerde toekomst.

Wat verwachten we van jou?

  • Je werkt samen met collega-software engineers om nieuwe features te ontwikkelen en onze toepassingen te onderhouden. Dat betekent niet dag en nacht code schrijven. Je zet je kennis van programmeertalen in om in bestaande programma’s te werken of data op te halen. Je zal zowel zelf programmeren als code reviews doen.
  • Samen met applicatiebeheerders test je nieuwe toepassingen of wijzigingen.
  • Collega’s kunnen bij jou terecht met operationele vragen. Je zoekt zaken uit, vindt de oorzaak van eventuele problemen en bedenkt oplossingen.

Jouw troeven?

  • Dankzij een bachelor- of masterdiploma en min. 5 jaar ervaring in IT heb je al een sterke technische kennis.
  • Je hebt ervaring in:software development (backend) mainframe-technologieën als COBOL, JCL, DB2 en IMS ontwikkel- en releaseprocessen als CI/CD en GitHub.
  • Je maakt je complexe materie snel eigen en ziet de verbanden, ook in een context met minimaal uitgetekende krijtlijnen.
  • Je hebt oog voor kwaliteit, standaarden & klantentevredenheid.
  • Je communiceert vlot in het Nederlands en Engels. Zo werk je vlot samen met anderen, ook je collega’s in het buitenland. Vragen stellen of ideeën challengen? Voor jou geen probleem.
